Code Vein 2 is a week away from release, which means it’s about time for a demo to make the rounds on the internet. And that’s exactly what we got – not just a character creator (as Dragon Age: The Veilguard got), but a full photo mode, and hot springs area to lounge around in.
Is this all a way to make fans essentially guerilla-market the upcoming game for free? Yes, but that marketing material also gets to feature an anime character tailored by and for your specific tastes, so it’s all good.
This Code Vein 2 demo also has a dedicated release trailer, showing off all the different styles and character-creation tools the demo offers. It’s a trailer that, apparently, is a bit slow on the draw. Many players had already found, downloaded, and finished building their characters in this demo several hours before the trailer released. Clearly, Bandai Namco needs to get with the times.
How Good Is Code Vein 2’s Character Creator Demo?

Naturally, any good character creator will see players trying to recreate charaters from other IPs. After all, if a given character-maker is supposedly so good, is it good enough to build Hatsune Miku? Given that Miku is being brought up in a Code Vein 2 article, you can already guess that the answer here is “yes“. There’s also a 2B recreation, which you may have seen in the thumbnail image for this article.

But of course, most players are just interested in making their own special character for this sort of thing. And there’s absolutely no shortage of that, either. The original Code Vein was known for its strong character creator, and the developers did not cut things back here.

As for the other features in the demo, the photo mode comes with a variety of pose and camera settings to best capture the look of your character. You can also (as is standard) transfer your save data into the full game once that releases, but you shouldn’t feel as though the one guy/gal you make has to be the one you use in-game.
This demo has 64 slots to save character designs into. If you’d had enough fun with one direction for a character, you can just shelve them for later, and work on something completely different for a change.
The demo also advertises a trip into Revenant Springs, a hot spring that is itself advertised with a trailer featuring multiple large men.
Code Vein 2’s character creator demo is a free download available via Steam and Xbox/PlayStation consoles.
