During Romeo’s adventure in Romeo is a Dead Man, he faces several Juliets that may be from parallel universes, clones, or illusions. Two of them can transform into large, muscular monsters (or it might be their true form; the game isn’t very clear on that) called Death Changeling.
At the end of the Existence chapter, you’ll face off against Death Changeling Parabellum, a mighty foe with a machinegun on his shoulder as if it were cosplaying as the Predator. It can be a tricky fight if you aren’t prepared, but that’s what online guides are for.
The Best Build To Beat Death Changeling Parabellum

| Slot | Equipment | Description |
| Melee Weapon | Juggernaut | Steel fists with quick strikes |
| Ranged Weapon | Yggdrasil | Heavy damaging cannon |
| Badge 1 | Hilltop Castle | Increases attack by 20% when a Bastard is in cooldown |
| Badge 2 | Fist Frankie | Increases Juggernaut’s attack by 15% |
| Bastard 1 | FrostBolt | Freeze an enemy |
| Bastard 2 | WeakenFlower | Put a weakness flower on an enemy |
The first Death Changeling did a lot of virus and glitch attacks, but you’ll find nothing of the sort here, so it is a waste to bring status-clearing items. What isn’t a waste is to bring Bastards like FrostBolt or WeakenFlower, due to their ability to mark the boss during the darkness phase.
You can use any weapons you want; I used Juggernaut and Yggdrasil for most of the game. You need to know when the moment is right to fire Yggdrasil’s mighty missiles, so if you need a faster ranged weapon, I’d recommend Nebuchadnezzar.
For Badges, I just took whatever gave me the most attack. You can buy a lot of them in The Last Night ship, but Hilltop Castle is unlocked by beating the game’s dungeon on Hard.
Death Changeling Parabellum Moveset

The Death Changeling Parabellum’s moves change depending on how far you are, and how much damage you’ve dealt. It will always try to get close, but if you’re too far, it will start using that machinegun on its shoulder; it is fairly easy to dodge, so you can win a ranged competition.
When up close, it uses its blades for quick slashes. When it charges both blades from behind its back, be careful, since that’s its grab attack; it can land even when you’re in the middle of a Bloody Summer animation.

Either during a melee combo or after a ranged attack, the boss will start spinning and closing in on you. You can’t spam dodge; you’re better off running or using Bloody Summer to stun it out of the attack. Bastards that interrupt work as well.
Its most damaging attack is when it teleports to the center of the stage and starts summoning damaging zones. You have very little time to find a safe zone, but the safest is always at the edges of the stage. Since the boss is invulnerable here, you can’t really cheese it with Bloody Summer or Bastards.
This is why Yggdrasil ends up being a good weapon here, even though it is too slow for most bosses. If you fired it already, you can recharge it here while on the safety of the edge. And when the attack ends, you can send a high-damage projectile as you get close to continue your melee combo.
The Darkness Phase

At several points during the fight, the Death Changeling Parabellum will cover the entire arena in darkness. The only tell for the creature’s location is when it attacks, since each swing comes with a neon light (it won’t use ranged attacks during this phase). That is, unless you bring Bastards.
If you poison the boss or mark it in any way, that mark will be plainly visible just as Romeo is, letting you track the boss just as you normally would. The best Bastard by far is FrostBolt, since not only it marks the boss, it stops it on its tracks.
