Satisfactory is a unique twist on open world and building games, where you can select a biome, farm resources, and start building a factory. The game can be a bit difficult to master initially, but you can slowly start building your ideal factory and craft equipment. This equipment will help power up your factory, craft new items, and expand your factory further. One such critical piece of equipment in the early stages is the Portable Miner.
In this guide we will cover everything there is to know about the Portable Miner in Satisfactory; including how to build and use it in the game
How To Unlock The Portable Miner In Satisfactory
Head over to your main Hub and select Tier 0 – Hub Upgrade 1. You can find the Portable Miner blueprint in the first row. This is one of the earliest blueprints you can unlock, so you don’t require any criteria to unlock it
How To Craft The Portable Miner In Satisfactory
The Portable Miner is crafted at an Equipment Workbench after collecting:
- 4 * Iron Plate
- 8 * Wire
- 4 * Cable
If you haven’t built an Equipment Workbench yet, you can find the blueprint under Tier 0 in the Hub. Ensure that you have 6* Iron Plate and 4× Iron Rod to build it. Now head into the Equipment Workbench to start working on the Portable Miner.
Lets look at how you can get your hands on the resources mentioned above:
Iron Plate
The recipe for Iron Plate is found in the Craft Bench menu, and each Iron Plate needs 3 * Iron Ingots. To get Iron Ingot, mine some Iron Ore and take it to the Smelter.
Wire
Try to find Copper nodes and mine Copper, then bring it to the Smelter to get Copper Ingots. Take the ingots to the Craft Bench to craft Wire.
Cable
Within the Craft Bench, you can find the recipe for Cable. This requires 2x Wires as the crafting component to get 1x Cable
After collecting all the above crafting components, you can craft the Portable Miner at the equipment workbench. Pick it up once you are done building it and place it in your inventory.
How To Use The Portable Miner In Satisfactory
To use the Portable Miner, open your inventory and select the Portable Miner. Place it into the Hand slot on your character. You can just double-click on the Portable Miner in your inventory or drag it to the hand slot. Press E to start the Portable Miner, then press and hold E to start the mining process. You can place the Portable Miner on top of any mineral node.
To make it stop, press E again to open the portable miner menu. You can view two options, one to Pick Up, and one to Grab All. Select the option Pick Up to make the Portable Miner stop working. You can find the miner back in your inventory and relocate it if you wish. The Grab All function is used to harvest all the ore collected by the Portable Miner. The Portable Miner can collect one type of ore each time you set it down, and it can build a stack of 100 ores at max. Once it reaches its max capacity, it will stop working, and you can use the Grab All feature to collect all the ores.
The Portable Miner is the base equipment required to build the Mk. 1 Miner building, which is a much larger structure used to mine ore more efficiently. This can be constructed once you have collected 1 * Portable Miner, 10 * Iron Plates, and 10 * Concrete to craft one of these buildings
