The recent blog spot by PlayStation reveals the latest price tag attached to PlayStation VR 2 coming this March. Starting from March, PlayStation VR 2 will be sold for $399.99. The same price will also be applied to the VR 2 Horizon Call of Mountain Bundle.
The common bundle comes with PS VR 2 Headset, PS VR2 Sense Controller, and Stereo Headphones. If you have your eye set on the Horizon Call of Mountain Bundle, it will come with all the accessories as the normal PS VR 2 bundle but with a voucher code for Horizon Call of Mountain. The amazing reveal here is that both variations of VR 2 will come with the same price tag.
The latest price has the PS VR 2 at $399.99 / €449.99 / £399.99 / ¥66,980 recommended retail price (includes tax for EUR, GBP, and JPY)
Since the Horizon Call of Moutain bundle has every accessory as the normal one with the addition of the voucher code, it is a better choice than getting the normal PS VR 2. Since the costs are exactly the same for both variations of VR 2, choosing Horizon Call of the Mountain VR 2 Bundle will bring the best value for money purchase.
Sony did mention several reasons why you should consider buying a PS VR 2 this time by mentioning all the future IP launches heading to VR 2.
“With recently released hits like Alien: Rogue Incursion, Skydance’s Behemoth, and Metro Awakening VR, and exciting new game launches on the way including Aces of Thunder, Dreams of Another, Hitman World of Assassination, and The Midnight Walk, it’s never been a better time to jump into the action with PS VR2.
Using the PS VR2 PC Adapter, players will also have access to browse, buy and play thousands of virtual reality games on Steam. Title release dates and regional availability may vary.“
The VR 2 was not a huge hit, even the former boss Shuhei Yoshida spoke out on the lack of success of the VR 2. One of the reasons why VR 2 didn’t generate enough enthusiasm was the price tag it was sitting at $549.99. The machine launched with 20 titles but failed to create any enthusiasm in the market. Now the price tag has moved to $399, we might see more people jumping into the VR world. Many more future titles are being developed by Sony, making the lifespan of VR 2 a bit longer than sudden abandonment.
Some might have feared that Sony might abandon the VR 2 to move on to the next fish in the sea. But lowering the price of the machine is the right way to appeal to a broader audience. Meanwhile, IO Interactive announced Hitman World of Assassination heading to PS VR 2 on 27 March.
