Monster Hunter Wilds brings back the ever famous Turf Wars, where you can set up a monster match by luring in two monsters towards the same area. This mechanic was introduced in Monster Hunter World, but players couldn’t manually expose these monsters to each other. Now, however, players do get an option to trigger monster fights themselves, leading to a spectacular viewing of the large creatures in battle against each other for their territory. This guide will explain how Turf Wars work in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How Turf Wars Work in Monster Hunter Wilds

Turf Wars happen when monsters accidentally or purposely cross paths while crossing terrains, and this can be done by the players themselves if they wish. To start a turf war, check your map or explore your surroundings to find any two large monsters. Then, use the Luring Pod to lure one monster towards the area where the other monster is. You will know that the monster you are trying to lure is following you by the visible red line that appears between you and the monster.
All you need to do is let the two monsters come face to face, then just sit back and watch the fight. You can participate and kill them both if you wish, but one of them will end up dead automatically without your help anyways. Also, Turf Wars can also happen at random, especially when the paths of two monsters divulge with each other. Not all monsters will start Turf Wars and some of them will peacefully coexist. You can do trial and error to find out which monsters are more protective of their territories to start a fight.
Tips on Starting Turf Wars

If you have been eyeing a monster to kill but don’t have the skills for it, you can make use of the Turf War mechanic to lure two monsters together. This can help you down a monster quicker, and, if you are lucky, you can get rewards from two monsters if they both end up dead. Some smaller monsters have a better chance of hunting down larger monsters, and smaller monsters are easier to lure.
Use this to your advantage and gather a pack of smaller monsters to help you attack the larger ones when you encounter them. The main reason to start turf wars is to weaken or kill monsters so it becomes easier for you to get rewards off of them. You can also participate in killing weakened monsters to gain some XP. Use the downtime that you get while the monsters are fighting to heal or sharpen weapons for battle.
