Avowed: Destroy The Mines Or Stop Darle Choice Guide

Avowed has several choices to make as you explore all the quests and side quests that the game has to offer. Some choices will not directly impact your game’s endings, but you might miss out on some rare rewards if you end up choosing one or the other. Once you reach Shatterscarp, you can pick up a side quest called Fires in the Mine, where you need to make a choice about the mines in question. This guide will show you whether you should destroy the mines or stop the destruction in Avowed.

You can pick up this quest after talking to the Aedryan Soldier at Eagle’s Reach in Shatterscarp. You can find him near the cliff edges once you reach Eagle’s Reach, which is just west of the Eagle’s Reach Party Camp in Ancient Lakebed. After talking to the soldier, you will get the quest to investigate the Sulfur Mines just northeast of the camp, near Sulfur Mines Basecamp.

Destroy the Mines or Not Choice Guide

After investigating the mines and destroying the spider nests inside, you will meet Darle while you make your exit from the mines. He will tell you about his plans to blow up the mines, and you can either support him or stop him.

    Destroy the Mines

Listen to what Darle has to say, and he will make a compelling argument for destroying the mines. This option won’t yield you much rewards, as Darle will continue with the plans and the entrance to the mines will be closed off forever. This will prevent the locals from farming Sulphur and make a living, but you do get some XP as a reward.

    Stop Darle

Stopping Darle from destroying the mines will trigger a quick boss fight. Darle isn’t as tough as the other bosses you will encounter, but it will be a tough fight nonetheless. Here are some tips to help you kill Darle during the encounter.

    • Darle’s main weapon of choice is a greatsword, which offers him moderate reach and heavy attacks.
    • But because of this, he can be a bit slow, so if you have high agility, you can easily dodge or evade his attacks.
    • If you spot Darle lift his sword up for a slash attack, dodge and run behind him to land some hits.
    • He might also raise his sword and slam it to the ground. You can easily telegraph where his sword will land, so you won’t have a hard time evading it.
    • Darle will also use his sword to thrust forward. If you see him holding his sword at the hip, time your dodges and get to the side.
    • It is best to attack him from behind, where he is most vulnerable.
    • All weapons are great for this fight, especially double-handed weapons and guns.
    • You can use Tanglefoot to root Darle in place for a while so you can land some attacks.
    • Marius, Giatta, or Yatzli are great companions to bring to the fight, as they can stand back and attack from a distance while you deal with Darle up close.

    Which Option Should You Choose?

It is best to kill Darle if you are looking to get the most rewards from your ordeal. Not only will the mining officials be pleased to keep the mines open, but they will also reward you with 900 Coins and some XP. Additionally, after defeating Darle, you can loot his corpse to get 432 Coins.

There are plenty of early game choices that you will encounter while playing Avowed, and some choices like saving Ygwulf will leave a lasting impact on your gameplay choices.
