Where Winds Meet – How To Join the Velvet Shade

Joining Sects in Where Winds Meet is such a doozy that I’m contemplating remaining Sectless for the future. Sects are fun, they’re social, offer powerful weapons, and you get to take part in events not possible by being Sectless.

However, figuring out what their Entry Clue feels like a bullet wound, and Velvet Shade just fired the starting gun. The Entry Clue for this Sect states that “to enter Velvet Shade, one must either share its poetic spirit or possess extraordinary elegance — only then may an invitation be granted”.

And to add salt to the wound, the invites are currently bugged. However, if you still want to be prepared beforehand to receive the invitation, I’ve listed all possible ways to get one and join the Velvet Shade Sect in Where Winds Meet.

    1. Marry & Divorce Twice Within 7 Days

The first possible method to join the Velvet Shade Sect in Where Winds Meet is to marry another player, then divorce them and repeat the process within seven days. I admit it’s an extremely tedious method, but it’s way easier in the game than it is in reality. Currently, it’s the only method that offers an invitation to join the Sect, but you need to wait at least 2 days before it arrives.

You must marry another player, as you cannot marry NPCs in the game. So, select a player to build a relationship with, then speak to Shi Yimo and take the vow of marriage at the Crimson Cliff in the Moonveil Mountain region of Qinghe. You may have already encountered Shi Yimo at one of the Sage’s Knoll Encounter Quests.

After marrying your partner, speak to Shi Yimo again and select the “Sever Partnership” option to divorce them. Spend 10,000 Coins to complete the procedure. You need to do this twice to get the Velvet Shade Sect’s invitation.

If you don’t receive the invitation after the first divorce, repeat the process within 7 days of the first one, then wait for the invitation. Maybe the true poetic spirits are the hearts we broke along the way!

    2. Reach “Pure Jade” Elegance Level: Elegance Score 800+

Elegance Score in Where Winds Meet is determined by the outfits you’ve collected and the ones you’ve equipped. Each outfit offers points that accumulate with the other outfits to form the total Elegance Score. “Pure Jade” Elegance Level requires you to have an Elegance Score of 800+, and that’s seemingly one of the requirements to get an invitation to join the Velvet Shade Sect.

The Entry Clue for this sect does mention that “one must possess extraordinary elegance”, so this method doesn’t seem too far off. Once you’ve reached an Elegance Score of over 800, wait for a few days to receive the invitation.

Unfortunately, this method is currently unavailable in the global version of Where Winds Meet. However, keep collecting as many outfits as you can to get an invite instantly when this method becomes available in the global servers.

Bug: According to players on the game’s subreddit, the invitation is currently bugged, so no one has received it yet. Even if you’ve done both the methods mentioned above, you may not receive the invitation due to this bug. However, it’s still worth doing it, since Everstone will hopefully resolve this issue soon, and then you’ll receive the much-anticipated Velvet Shade invitation.

That’s all you need to know about joining the Velvet Shade Sect in Where Winds Meet. So, break some hearts, upgrade your fashion, and hope you get an invite.
