Valor Mortis: Bedtime Stories Quest Guide

When you reach the City of Orphans you’ll already be pretty well acquainted with the mice from your time in The Outskirts, but the City of Orphans is where the majority of their questlines take place. One of which being the Bedtime Stories quest. 

This quest sees you head into the city in search of a children’s book that might just calm the racing minds of the mice as the world crumbles around them. 

However, finding the book isn’t the easiest thing to do in this huge, interconnected map of streets and alleyways. So, here so here is where to find it and what you’ll get for doing it. 

Starting The Quest & Where To The Book 

As mentioned, this quest takes place in chapter seven as you explore the City of Orphans on your way to the University.

This book that you need is located in the building with the basement full of Carrion and spewer enemies. Starting from the first lantern, you’ll want to head past the guillotine and down the path, fighting the soldier and volunteer enemies as you go.

This will take you down a fiery alleyway, and at the end of this alley of fire, you’ll see a stairset. Climb this and you’ll come to a mouse burrow. Talk to them and they’ll request the book, kicking off the quest.

From there, the building is the next one your naturally enter right of the staircase. Simply climb this building fighting enemies until you reach the Grenadier enemy and you’ll notice boards on the floor. If you stand on these you’ll fall through, gaining access to the basement. 

When you drop down you’ll be bombarded by carrion enemies and spewers. Take out the spewer on the wall, and then use fire to burn the remaining enemies. Then, you’ll find the book on a shelf in the basement. 

Reading To The Kids 

After you find this book, get yourself out of the basement and make your way back to the mouse burrow. When you do, you’ll gain a Tiny Whisker Gift for your efforts, which can be consumed to gain 3,500x catalysts. 

However, you’ll then be prompted to ‘read the story’ or ‘say goodbye’. If you choose to read to the kids, you’ll be rewarded with yet another 3,500x catalysts in the form of another Tiny Whisker Gift. Netting you 7,000x Catalysts total.
