Wandering Tales are a great break from the action-packed narrative for Where Winds Meet. I’ve found myself wholeheartedly invested in these little side quests, which are also a great way to earn some Coin, EXP, and Echo Jade, by the way.
During my visit to Apricot Village in Kaifeng, I came across an incredibly wholesome Wandering Tale that focused on building a strong relationship between two individuals through medicine: Zhang Su, a physician at the Imperial Medical Academy, and Zhai Chun, a manager at the Herb Hall.
Where Winds Meet isn’t all about fighting bosses or collecting the best Mystic Arts, but it’s also about the NPCs whom we often ignore in pursuit of something greater. These Wandering Tales add so much to the exploration and the in-game world, which makes them worth completing.
So, I’ve written down every detail you need to complete this Wandering Tale in Kaifeng, and trust me, every second of this quest oozes tenderness and intimacy. With that said, here’s how you can easily complete the “Love Prescribed in Medicine” Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet.
Speak to Zhang Su and Retrieve the Herb Sachet
To begin this Wandering Tale, head to the Herb Hall in the Apricot Village, located at Stillheart Grove in the northern part of Kaifeng. I stumbled upon this Wandering Tale while interacting with Zhang Su at the location shown in the Where Winds Meet image above.
From a quick conversation with him, you’ll find out that his secret Herb Sachet with rehmannia has been stolen, possibly by students at the Imperial Medical Academy nearby.
Of course, the responsibility to retrieve it will fall on you, so head to the location as shown in the image above to find the Herb Sachet on a wooden shelf inside the student quarters.
Return the Herb Sachet to Zhang Su and talk with him once again. He’ll finally admit that he’s in love with Zhai Chun, Herb Hall’s manager and wants to share some of her burden out of admiration for her. Encourage him to open up to Zhai Chun to progress this Wandering Tale.
Speak to Zhai Chu and Advance the In-Game Time
When you’re done talking with Zhang Su, speak to Zhai Chun in the same area. She’ll ask you to return the next day for the rehmannia to be prepared completely. Advance the in-game time to the next day, then interact with her again.
I found it incredibly sweet that she blushes when you interact with her the next day, and remains flustered. However, you won’t get an answer from her, since she stays quiet when you try to talk to her. So, your next move is to speak with Zhang Su for one last time in Where Winds Meet.
Speak to Zhang Su Again to End the Quest
Zhang Su states that Zhai Chun opened up to him about her hardships, then hilariously turned him down for the millionth time. While Zhang Su’s quest to pursue her in love didn’t quite land, their relationship has now become much stronger thanks to you.
