We live in a world where we have collabs ranging from SpongeBob in Magic: The Gathering to… the World of Warcraft x Lodge Cast Iron skillet! While it is possible to see a line of thinking between Magic: The Gathering’s latest collabs or an overlap of audience, it requires a bit of stretching of the imagination to understand a Lodge Cast Iron skillet collab.
While we’ve seen all kinds of merch for the kitchen with the likes of Le Creuset’s Pokémon drops or chopsticks licensed with every game possible, a skillet themed after Blizzard’s eternal multiplayer title is on the more unusual side.
Why is There a World of Warcraft Skillet?

The mythical Lodge Cast Iron coollab skillet will have the World of Warcraft logo on the bottom of it. As if the skillet isn’t enough, every purchase will also include a code for an in-game pet, so you can enjoy the collaboration online perks as well.
While you can buy the Cinder Kitten separately if you wish, that’ll cost 10 bucks, while the Lodge World of Warcraft skillet costs 37 dollars. The math checks out if you want to save.

While most merch drops are driven by unfettered capitalist greed, there is actually some logic to the collab between World of Warcraft and Lodge this one time. Blizzard is doing various home-themed promotions in honour of the latest World of Warcraft Housing update, itself one of the most anticipated changes to the game in recent years. There is even a collab with real estate portal Zillow, which lets you peek into a special version of the website where the homes are located in Azeroth.
A World of Warcraft skillet may seem like a weird combo, but it’s an easy choice to buy something plain or with merch of something you like, so they’re surely not to blame for trying.
Lodge themselves have been famous for other interesting collabs, such as their skillet with Dolly Parton, while World of Warcraft is currently also teaming up with the Trevor Project for its first-ever Pride Month event (I guess the old fan parades from our childhood don’t count), and the proceeds will go to the LGBT charity.
