Arknights: Endfield has a new, major update titled “Dreamscape of Wind and Snow”, which introduces the new 6-star Nature Striker Typhoeus, a unique striker with a key difference among her peers: instead of being a ground-based fighter, she can hover in the air, allowing her to deal major aerial damage to enemies.
At least, that’s the plan, which depends heavily on how you build her as soon as you pull her from her featured banner. And that’s what we’re here to help you with, so read on and find out how to turn the new operator into a particularly efficient damage-dealing machine.
Who is Typhoeus
Typhoeus is a young Sarkaz representative affiliated with the Rhodes Island faction. Despite being from the same race as Last Rite (another powerhouse in her own right), Typhoeus is far from the shy and guarded person her fellow is. An astonishing huntress with a razor-sharp focus, the new operator wanders through endless dreams to collect the scattered stories of the world.
Typhoeus is the central figure of the Version 1.5 main quest line. After arriving in the mysterious Snowy Forest outside Yinglung Pass in search of Sami legends, she crosses paths with the Endministrator. Almost immediately, the group becomes ensnared in a major, overarching quest that sees you navigating through a fog loop, forcing you to venture into deep woods to escape.
She does have a tragic backstory that ties in neatly with her mainline quest, which we will avoid talking about so as not to spoil your experience. It is worth noting that she is not the type of operator that should be used as a “lone ranger”, since her kit heavily relies on proper activation from other teammates.
Still, she does pack a mean punch, and we’ll show you how to build it properly to give her more oomph.
Typhoeus Best Builds and Gameplay
To successfully run Typhoeus in high-end content, players must understand her strict reliance on team synergy. Because she lacks a self-contained method to apply Nature Infliction on her own, her efficiency in generating Sign stacks drops significantly without the proper enablers.
Stat Priorities and Optimal Gear
Much like Cheng Qianyu and the Endmin themselves, Typhoeus’ main stat is “Agility”, which scales her overall damage output. Meanwhile, Arts Intensity directly enhances the forced Nature Burst triggers in her kit.
- Best Weapon: Umbra of Frigid Eventide (6-Star Signature) – This is her definitive Best-in-Slot (BiS) option, also available for as long as her own banner is active. It perfectly matches her Agility scaling and features a Detonate effect that provides +44.8% Arts DMG Dealt. Casting a Battle Skill grants her +98 Arts Intensity and 4 stacks of Windform; applying an Arts Burst consumes a stack to grant an additional +11.2% Arts DMG Dealt, yielding massive uptime during her Hovering windows.
- Best Alternative: Suffering’s End (6-Star) – A viable alternative featuring Agility Boost, Nature DMG Boost, and Detonate. However, its lack of an ATK% boost results in a noticeable performance gap compared to her signature weapon.
- Definitive Gear Set – The optimal setup utilizes a 3-Piece Deep Rampart set paired with LYNX Slab as an off-piece.
- Gear Pieces: Deep Rampart Armor, Deep Rampart Gauntlets, and Deep Rampart Comms.
- Set Synergy: The 3-piece Deep Rampart set increases her Arts DMG Dealt by 16% and grants +16 Arts Intensity for 20 seconds (stacking up to 3 times for a total of +48 Arts Intensity) whenever she applies a Nature Burst. Typhoeus easily maintains maximum stacks because her Hunting Arrow-enhanced Power Shots repeatedly trigger Nature Burst during her standard aerial rotation.
- The Off-Piece: LYNX Slab is utilized in the remaining Kit slot purely for its +20.7% Main Attribute bonus, which heavily scales her Agility and provides a substantial ATK boost.
Mastering the Aerial Gameplay Loop
As a striker with the unusual capacity of aerial combat, Typhoeus’ rotation relies on a strict execution order to capitalize on her hovering windows. In short, she is not efficient at starting an attack cycle herself, being more useful as a mid-to-end rotation, bouncing off another teammate’s initial moveset.
Here’s how to take full advantage of her:
- Apply Nature Infliction: A teammate must first apply Nature Infliction to the target.
- Activate Battle Skill (Piercing Arrows of the Woods): Consuming 100 SP, Typhoeus leaps into the air and enters a Hovering state. Here, she can perform up to 5 Aerial Basic Attacks (ABATK). Each attack that hits an enemy with Nature Infliction consumes the status to grant her 1 Sign and additional Ultimate Energy.
- Trigger Combo Skill (Rampant Thorns): Upon reaching her maximum of 8 Signs, her Combo Skill triggers automatically. If she gains 8 Signs while the skill is on cooldown, dealing damage to an enemy will trigger it again once the cooldown ends. This skill converts her Signs into Hunting Arrows (2 Signs = 1 Hunting Arrow) and resets her ABATK count. It also deploys a Barrage Array that deals AoE Nature damage over time, slows enemies by 60%, and increases their Nature Burst DMG Taken by 10%. Triggering this while Hovering resets her attack attempts and keeps her airborne.
- Unleash Power Shots: With Hunting Arrows active, Typhoeus’s ABATKs convert into Power Shots. These shots consume 1 Hunting Arrow to forcibly trigger a Nature Burst, which is amplified to 1.3x damage if the target’s Nature Infliction is consumed. (If she is the controlled operator, her 5th attack acts as a final Power Shot without consuming an arrow).
- Deploy Ultimate (Call of Ice Mountain): After exhausting her standard rotation, casting her Ultimate deals massive AoE Nature damage, immediately resets her ABATK attempts, grants her 2 Hunting Arrows, and launches a Hail of Arrows on her subsequent attacks.
An optimized gameplay rotation follows this flow: Apply Nature Infliction → Battle Skill → ABATKs (build 8 Signs) → Combo Skill (Rampant Thorns) → spend Hunting Arrows via Power Shots → Ultimate → enhanced Aerial Attacks.
Team Building and Synergies
Speaking of the best teammates for Typhoeus, you should prioritize pairing her up with characters that are capable of high-frequency Nature application. Arcane, the main operator introduced in the previous update, is definitely the obvious choice here, given that she can not only dish out damage on the necessary element, but she is also one of the top rotation starters in the game, and functions very well as both a main DPS role and a support one.
- The Premium Team: Typhoeus (Main DPS), Arcane (Enabler – provides the consistent Nature Infliction she requires), Liino (Support/Utility), and Ardelia (Sustain/Nature Support).
- The Budget/Alternative Team: Typhoeus (Main DPS), Fluorite (Nature Infliction), Gilberta (Grouping/Utility – highly valuable for pulling scattered enemies into Typhoeus’s AoE Barrage Array), and Xaihi (Support).
Final Thoughts
One of the community’s fears was that GRYPHLINE would introduce Typhoeus as a filler of sorts to keep players occupied while the studio gets ready for the next major update—it is rumored that Version 1.6 will introduce Lady Si and Ye Minghui, and at least one of them has already proven to be a major, essential part of Endfield Industries’ fight against the Foundation.
Fortunately, that is not the case, as Typhoeus not only introduces a new concept to the otherwise ground-stuck striker operators, but also brings a versatile kit that makes her an interesting choice for fighting in a Nature-first team setup. The same happened when Zhuang Fangiy came out and made the Electric characters relevant all around.
In short, Typhoeus brings a fresh look to an entire set of operators, opening a myriad of possibilities that no player had before the 1.5 Update rolled out, and you should definitely make an effort to pull for her.
