There are a few choices to make that will impact your gameplay in The Outer Worlds 2. Some of the choices you have to make will come early in the game. During the Discrete Mathematics quest, you will be tasked with either killing or sparing Victor. Your choice will affect how the game continues, so keep reading to know the best choice.
Should You Kill or Spare Victor in The Outer Worlds 2
Sparing Victor is the best outcome for this choice, as he ultimately reveals De Vries’ plans. There are other options to pick as well, and if you want to know what happens if you spare or don’t spare Victor, then keep reading below.
Spare Victor

You will get details of De Vries’ plans if you choose to spare Victor, and this makes things easier for you as you keep playing the game. If you have Speech 5, then you could just talk to him to get him to back down. However, in case you don’t have high Speech, you need to meet several prerequisites before you get the option to spare him.
- Before talking to Victor, invite Marisol to your party.
- During the quest, gain access to Victor’s terminal.
- Saved Exemplar Foxworth, which is possible if you are at level 5 Medical or have the Trauma Kit.
- Rescue Novice Archivist Trammell and keep him alive.
After that, while speaking to Victor, pick the following dialog choices.
- There’s always a choice… to get hurt.
- I thought you were a scientist… remembered?
- Wait a minute… de Vries put you up to this.
- Would pure scientific… That was me.
- I think I finally understand you… been doing here.
- Someone is afraid of living to see the consequences of his actions.
Victor will comply to stand down and agree to leave De Vries’ and reveal her plans. Also, way later in the game, Victor will be seen working as a janitor.
Kill Victor

This choice is pretty straightforward, as you just need to pick all the hostile dialogue options to get into the fight. Luckily, killing Victor is easy, as he will go down rather quickly. Upon his death, you can loot the Maintenance Hatch Key from his corpse.
Torture Victor

If you have Aza in your team, she will offer to torture Victor for information. While you do get partial information from him, he will ultimately die, giving you the same outcome as killing him. In both of the lethal choices, you will not see Victor in any future sections of the game.
