During “The Saboteur of Paradise” main quest in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll meet Minister Milverstreet and Commander Kaur inside a large town hall at the Fairfields. Both Milverstreet and Kaur are rivals, and will come to you for help. It’s up to you to make a choice on who you want to help. In this guide, we’ll explain what happens if you side with either, and the rewards you obtain in The Outer Worlds 2.

What Happens if You Side With Minister Milverstreet?

If you side with Milverstreet in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll have a chance to recruit Inez and you’ll be tasked with an optional second quest. After siding with him, you’ll be sent to the Ministry of Accuracy, where you’ll meet a new Companion. Next, he’ll task you with another quest to convert the Protectorate people in Westport. Once you’re done with both of his quests. he’ll offer more information regarding the Vox Relay Station, which will progress your quest to find De Vries.

To side with Milverstreet, pick  “I prefer diplomacy and subterfuge to frontal assaults. I’d rather work with you.” when he warns you about Commander Kaur’s reaction to working with him. Keep talking to him about the Vox Relay Station, the “grafted soldier”, and Mental Refreshment information to unlock this dialogue. This will start the “A Refreshing Bit of News” quest, and you can no longer change your side to join Commander Kaur.

If you side with Milverstreet, Vigilant Hogarth will help you access the Vox Relay Station without having to fight anyone. It will also lead to you evacuating Westport later on during “The Saboteur of Paradise”, which is perfect for players who prefer a dipolmatic and quieter approach. If you’re one of those players who avoid combat and have invested into non-combat abilities, side with Minister Milverstreet.

    Rewards For Siding with Milverstreet

Here are the rewards you obtain for completing Minister Milverstreet’s quests in The Outer Worlds 2:

    • 350 Bit Cartridges (First Quest Reward)
    • Topmost Coat Body Armor (First Quest Reward)
    • 2400 Bit Cartridges (Second Quest Reward)
    • Limited Production Gentleperson’s Oxonian Hat (Second Quest Reward)

If you side with Commander Kaur in The Outer Worlds 2, she’ll give you valuable information on getting access to the Vox Relay Station. You’ll be tasked with going to the Automech Repair Center, where you can either sabotage or help the Protectorate. Regardless of your decision, you’ll obtain her quest rewards, which we have listed below.

To side with Commander Kaur, pick “I’d rather work with you than Milverstreet. I prefer the direct approach.”, which unlocks after you discuss the Automech Repair Center with her. This will trigger the  “Above and Beyond Repair” quest, and lock you out of joining Milverstreet’s side. Kaur’s questline and approach is more combat-oriented, filled with combat sections, so if you’re a player who has invested in a combat-focused build, siding Kaur is for you. You’ll get more XP and rewards with each combat encounter.

Rewards For Completing Commander Kaur’s Quest

Here are the rewards you obtain for completing Commander Kaur’s quest in The Outer Worlds 2:

    • Kaur’s Kuirass (Heavy Body Armor)
    • Kaur’s Corroder
    • Designator Triple Barrel Shotgun
    • Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus (Early Obtain)

You can obtain the Gas Energy Deflection Device even if you side with Milverstreet, but you can get it earlier in the game if you choose Commander Kaur’s side.

There’s no right or wrong in siding with either Milverstreet or Kaur; it all boils down to who you like more. You can either pick your side by choosing which reward you want to obtain, or the approach you want to go for – diplomatic or aggressive. Once you’ve chosen your path, you cannot back out, so pick your side carefully.

That’s all you need to know about siding with Milverstreet and Commander Kaur in The Outer Worlds 2. Since the next main quest after “The Saboteur of Paradise” is “On the Trail of a Traitor”, check out our Switch Puzzle guide, which you need to solve during this quest.
