Much like any RPG, Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 allows you to bring and recruit companions, who helps you out during tough situation throughout the game
All 6 Companions in Outer Worlds 2 – Locations & Traits
In total, The Outer Worlds 2 lets you recruit six companions throughout the game. Each companion is proficient at a particular set of skills, and much like the previous game, you can have two companions with you at a time. Recruiting mostly involves finding them and convincing them to join your team. So, here are the six companions you can find in The Outer Worlds 2
1. Niles Abara

Location: The game adds Niles automatically to your party as a companion as you land at Paradise Island, the first area in the game, immediately after the prologue.
Niles Abara comes with the ability to taunt enemies. This helps take enemy attention away from you, and that is pretty useful early on as you get some breathing space to become used to combat in the game. In addition, he also packs a punch with his revolver, and his second ability to fire three rapid shots at the enemy.
Putting Niles in your party provides you with bonus evasion and higher chances to avoid incoming attacks, thanks to the “Reflex Amplified” trait. Niles also gives the “Field Tinkering” trait, which lets you access the workbench without visiting one by just talking to him.
His companion quest begins after you have spent some time with him and explored Fairfield.
2. V.A.L.E.R.I.E.

Location: Much like Niles, V.A.L.E.R.I.E. is also one of the first few companions you will get in The Outer Worlds 2 right at the beginning. You just have to progress through the storyline to get to the point where V.A.L.E.R.I.E. joins your party.
Outside of that, adding V.A.L.E.R.I.E. to your party automatically heals any party member whose health is low, thanks to the “Life Injection Module” trait. Like with Niles, this ability comes in handy a lot of times early on in combat. This ability also has a pretty short cooldown, so you should definitely go ahead and use it without worrying too much on that front. he trait does have a cooldown, however. Additionally, you might also preserve bypass shunts when hacking, thanks to the companion’s “Integrated Bypass Repair” trait.
The companion quest for V.A.L.E.R.I.E is in fact, a collectibles hunt – you are required to find Advanced Decryption Keys that help unlock her Mod Kit for upgrades.
3. Inez Silang

Location: To recruit Inez, you need to be at Fairfield. Before the “Saboteur of Paradise” quest, you can find Inez talking about her contract at the west side of Paradise Island. You cannot hire her immediately, but you can convince her that her contract is awful, and that you can help her out of it. Then, progress through the campaign story, and you’ll find her standing at the entrance of the Ministry of Accuracy building, convinced of joining your party
Inez is a member of Auntie’s Choice, and again, comes with useful traits. The Combat Drugs trait increases accuracy and fire rate, while Unlicensed Chemist increases the number of Inhaler Charges. a provides a great balance between dealing damage and healing you and your companions.
Her companion quest unlocks automatically once she joins the party, and will have you make a pretty important decision at the end of it, one that alters what kind of Companion Ability she brings to the table. We will leave this part for you to discover and not spoil it here.
4. Aza Leitinger

Location: After you reach the Golden Ridge in The Outer Worlds 2, you can find and recruit Aza, a member of the Glorious Dawn Cult. She can be found on the west part of the area, in the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium building. Take out all the enemies in the building, and then go upstairs to find a locked room with Aza, where she introduces you to the Glorious Dawn faction. Then, have a conversation with her, and she’ll be convinced to join your party immediately.
Aza is an assassin with a high focus on damage-dealing. Aza’s primary ability, “Spread the Message,” helps her deal huge damage to the enemies from the front.
As for her traits, she has “A Chaotic Purpose,” which helps her charge her ability faster. She also comes with an extra charge for ability, thanks to her trait. Additionally, the “Hidden in Palin-Sight” the bounty requirement for you to be considered an Outlaw among the neutral and high reputation factions goes up.
Her companion quest unlocks as part of the main story. This happens during the On the Trail of the Traitor quest, while investigating the N-Ray Range. This quest has a switch puzzle for you to solve. Check our guide if you are having any problems completing it.
5. Marisol Delgado

Location: Marisol is found at the Zyranium Manufactory VII in Golden Ridge. She will be locked inside a room. Once you rescue her, help her investigate the facility, and help her find the real perpetrator who caused the massacre against the Auntie’s Choice members. Once you progress through the questline and help her find the perpetrator, she will join your party after you choose the correct dialogues.
Marisol Delgado is the former member of the Department of Preemptive Casual Redirection. She is a living legend in the world of The Outer Worlds 2, and has huge knowledge about gadgets. The “Torpifying Blast” ability stuns a targeted enemy, and makes all of your attacks critical towards that enemy.
Like every companion in The Outer Worlds 2, she comes with two traits. The “Gadget Optimization” trait improves your energy generation. It also ensures that on any kill your party makes, it generates a small portion of your energy. The “Threat Analyzer” trait also helps you learn enemy data like their health, armor, and equipped weapon when you use the Tactical Time Dilation or N-Ray scanner.
6. Tristan Rao

Location: To recruit Tristan, complete the “Arbitrary Measures” side mission. You can unlock it by going to the Free Market Station, and go southwest from the landing pad to the Free Market Bazar. Tristan will be inside the 2nd Choice bar, talking with the barman. Then, travel to the Golden Ridge to complete the mission, and you can find Tristan again in the Free Market Bazar. Talk with him, and recruit.
A loyal subject of the Protectorate, Tristan is essentially a team tank, letting him defend his team members and also perform crowd control attacks. His main ability, “Judgment,” damages enemies and knocks them away while taunting them.
When he is in your party, you can benefit from two traits. The first one is “Supreme Arbiter Hammer,” in which his hammer also acts as a grenade launcher. The second trait, “Observant Adjudicator,” gives Tristan a 25% chance of revealing hidden objects nearby. This also helps before combat – Tristan can point out mines as well!
This completes all the details on the 6 companions that you can recruit in Outer Worlds 2. Be sure to experiment with different combinations of these to see what works best for you. Completing all companion quests also nets you the All for One trophy.
