If you want to add blood to your diet routine in Oblivion Remastered, you certainly can by contacting Vampirism in the game. The game allows you to play as a fully transformed vampire after you contract the specific disease. The way you can achieve Vampirism is simple and easy, and this guide covers the quick way to turn into a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered.
Contracting Vampirism In Oblivion Remastered

There are three ways to become a vampire in Oblivion Remastered:
- getting repeatedly attacked by a vampire
- completing the Darkness Eternal quest as part of the Dark Brotherhood questline
- eating a beating heart in a Daedric quest titled Unearthing Mehrunes Razor
Getting attacked by a vampire is by far the easiest way of turning into a vampire. When this happens, you contract a disease named Porphyric Hemophilia; and the best place to contract the disease is in Barren Cave. This is located northeast of the map, west of the Cheydinhal area. You will find vampires in that cave for sure, and getting attacked by a vampire increases the chances of getting this disease. Your next best bet, in case Barren Cave does not work out for you, are Bloodcrust Cavern, Memorial Cave and Redwater Slough.
Once you reach Barren Cave, do the following:
- Head inside the cave, and get attacked by Vampires. Take as many hits as possible, which will raise the chance of catching the disease. You can defend against their attacks by blocking, and can still contract the disease, so no need to absorb the hits and healing with potions or magic.
- After taking many hits from the Vampires, you will get a notification in the game saying you have contracted a disease. Here, you can check out the Active Effect section to see the list of contracted diseases in your game.
- Once you have contracted Vampirism, the game will add Porphyric Hemophilia to the list. Now you just need to sit it out, let the disease do the rest of the transformation into the Vampirism process.
Note: Don’t drink any Cure Disease Potions or Herbs, or cure the disease from any temple after you have contracted the Porphyric Hemophilia. Or you will have to start the entire process all over again.
- There are stages to Vampirism, the disease takes time before its complete transformation into Vampirism. Here are the in-depth details:
- 25% Vampirism level on your first contact with the disease.
- 50% Vampirism level after you spend 24 hours without curing the disease.
- 75% Vampirism level after spending 48 hours with the disease.
- 100% Vampirism level only after spending 72 hours with the disease.
You must spend 72 in-game hours without touching any cure to turn into a vampire. Now, when you check out the Active Effect section, the game will add Vampirism as an ability instead of Porphyric Hemophilia.
Other Methods of Getting Vampirism

- You can get Vampirism by completing the Darkness Eternal quest line. This comes later on the Dark Brotherhood questline, given by Vicente Valtieri. After you complete 5 of the Dark Brotherhood quests, you will receive the quest Darkness Eternal. Here you can talk to Valtieri to bite your flesh and give you the disease.
- The other method of Vampirism includes eating a beating heart in a Daedric quest titled Unearthing Mehrunes Razor. You can access the quest right after completing the tutorial section of the game. The quest takes place in the Sundercliff fort, found near Lake Canulus.
If you want to get Vampirism right away without doing some difficult tasks, heading into the cave and getting it is the best option. But if you want to get the disease in a lore-friendly manner, then you can complete the quest to get the disease.
