You can be part of the notorious Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered by committing crimes and rotting in a prison cell. But there is another lucrative way to meet the members of the Thieves Guild. Like any Guild in Elder Scrolls, you must prove to the members of the guild your ability to get the approval. The hiring process for the Thieves Guild remains the same as it does in the original Oblivion. Here are the steps to join the Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered.
Joining the Thieves Guild
We must complete two quests, Finding the Thieves Guild and May the Best Thief Win, to get accepted by the Thieves’ Guild. Before we begin, make sure to carry a healthy amount of gold because of the bribery we will do in the initiation process.
- You need to make your way to the Imperial City, the large city in the middle of Cyrodiil. You can get to the spot easily with a horse or simply by walking.
- Once you are in the city, don’t get overwhelmed by the buildings, canals, and NPCs. Here, look for a Wanted Poster on the walls. You will easily find them on the walls of any part of the city. It will be a poster of Gray Fox, a prominent member of the Thieves Guild.
- This will add the info of Gray Fox to your log, now you can converse with Guards, NPCs, and Beggars about the whereabouts of Gray Fox. Track down the homeless at the Waterfront District to give you all the details about Gray Fox.
Tip: If they are not giving you the info about the Gray Fox, you can use Bribery to get them talking. Once their mood is over 80, they will tell you everything about anything in the game. So bribe them enough to get the Disposition high.
- You will learn that the hiring of the Thieves Guild takes place at midnight at the Garden of Dareloth, right in the Waterfront District. This will add a new quest entry to your Journal: “Finding the Thieves Guild.

Quest Detail: Finding the Thieves Guild
- Head to the Garden of Dareloth and wait till it’s 12 in the night. Here, you will also find three NPCs: Armand Christophe, Methredhel, and Amusei.
- Methredhel and Amusei are seeking a spot in the guild. Armand will hand us the task. Once all three people arrive at the location near the house’s backyard, you can then converse with Armand Christophe, the one holding the torch in the middle, to begin the joining process.
Now choose the option to “Join the Thieves’ Guild” in the dialogue option to take the first task (May the Best Thief Win) to become a member of the Thieves’ Guild, which will be to steal Amantius Allectus’s Diary before the other two thieves.

- Once the dialogue is over, make a quick save, time is of the essence here. Talk to the beggar by following the objective marker, they will tell you the precise location of the Diary’s owner, which will be at the house located on the east side of the Temple District.
- Follow the objective marker, lock pick the door, grab the diary, and bring it back to Armand Christophe at the Waterfront District.
That’s it, with that initiation process completed, you will now become part of the Thieves Guild.
