Gothic 1 Remake – Can You put away the Torch

There are many dark environments in an RPG that you will need an illuminating source to pass through without falling to your death or encountering something that you don’t want to face. When you equip the torch in the Gothic 1 Remake, it feels good to explore with a source of light in the hopeless dark world, with or without a map.

But the true problem arises when you decide to put the torch away to use it later. Many players want to know the button that can help put out the torch so they can activate it later on. Here, we will talk about everything you need to know about putting out the torch and the way you extinguish the fire.

Can You Stow the Torch in Gothic 1 Remake?

The short and simple, quick answer to the question is no. You are not allowed to put away or stow your torch after lighting it up. Unlike other RPGs, where you can stow the torch in your inventory for use later, with the emphasis on realism here, the only way to get rid of the torch is to pull out a weapon.

What you can, and should do, is drop the torch in an area where you are expecting a combat encounter, or an area that you are going to traverse frequently. The torch, once dropped, keeps burning for a while, and that helps to keep the area lit for some time. Once you are done with combat, you can also choose to pick it up later.

    • Swimming: When you walk into the water, the torch will be unusable. Dropping into the water also gets rid of the torch fire.
    • Sleeping on the bed: When you decide to get some sleep, you will also get rid of the torch, as it will be placed on the ground.
    • Wait out the Clock: Nothing is permanent, so is the fire on the torch; just wait out the clock, and it will disappear on its own.
    • Modding: Put Away Torch: The mod does exactly what everybody wants to do with the torch; it will store the torch inside the inventory after putting it away with the key press ( Pressing the ‘T’ Key). With the mod enabled, the torch never gets dropped; it will be transferred back to the inventory.

Note: You will need to download and install the UE4SS mod first to make the Put Away Torch mod work in the game.

Torches are in unlimited supply in Gothic Remake, so you can easily drop one without feeling bad about losing something important. I will advise you to strategize it or download the mod to fix most of the issues and tailor the game to your gameplay preferences.
