Some armor and weapons in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered can be obtained quite early in the game. This can give you an upper edge when it comes to dealing with enemies that are otherwise difficult to beat. There is a quick way to get the two most powerful weapons in the game early on, especially while you are still at level 1. This guide will explain how to get the Umbra Sword and Frostwyrm Bow early in Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered: Umbra Sword Location and How to Get
To get the Umbra Sword early, first head over to Vindasel in the southwestern section of the Imperial City. You can get here quite early in the game after you escape from prison, so equip whatever base gear you own and head down over to the marked location. You will find a stone door that will lead you to the Vindasel dungeon, and you need to explore it to find the boss of this dungeon. The dungeon itself is filled with traps and enemies, so be prepared accordingly with enough potions, and most importantly: plenty of arrows.
Eventually, you will encounter Umbra deep within the dungeon, and while she might be a level 50 boss, she is easy to defeat if you follow these tips.
- First, set your game’s difficulty setting to the lowest setting possible, and also, your character should be at level 1.
- Enemy difficulty gets scaled based on your character’s level, hence why facing Umbra as a level 1 character will make the fight easier.
- To cheese the fight, jump up to the ledge above the arena and shoot down arrows at the boss.
- Another way to cheese the fight is to attack her once and lure her out of the dungeon towards the Imperial City. Keep checking up on her to see if she is following you, then make your way towards the city guards. All you need to do is just sit back and watch them defeat her.
- After defeating her, pick up the Umbra sword to claim it as your own.

Oblivion Remastered: Frostwyrm Bow Location and How to Get
For this one, make your way to the northeastern corner of the map to find an area called Dive Rock. Proceed up the hill till you find an abandoned campsite. From the camp, head east and look down below. You can spot the Uderfrykte Matron down there, and you can stay up at your position and shoot down arrows to get it down. Once it’s dead, check its corpse to get the Frostwyrm Bow.
