Sunni Island in Neverness to Everness is a collectible paradise with mysteries around every corner – like, for instance, an ominous red glowing umbrella sitting in the backyard of some random house next to the ocean, surrounded by wooden trees.

While most of these secrets and the Strange Tales associated with them are accessible, some of them do require a bit of work. Here we are going to cover all 9 Strange Tales found on the Sunni Island, in Neverness to Everness.

    #1. Strange Tales: The Well

NTE Strange Tale 1 The Well Location
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Interact with the wall to listen to the story

Teleport to the ReroRero Phone Booth in the middle of the Sunni island. Now head across the street from the phone booth, pass the wooden house on the left, jump over the wall at the end, and you will find a well in the forest. Interact with the well to pour some water. This will complete the first Strange Tale in Sunni Island.

Note: Come back to the well later on at night to hear a story from the anomaly that lives in it.

#2. Strange Tales: Mother & Her Son

NTE Strange Tale 2 Mother and Daughter
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Diving into the sea and being saved by an unknown source.

From the ReroRero Phone Booth, make your way to the beach to the north, as shown on the map. Once you get to the spot, you will see two people arguing near the coastline. Head over to them and talk to Ms. Bulan, who will be talking to her child.

Note: If you don’t see Ms. Bulan with her son, then I will recommend coming back to the spot the next day, around 8 in the morning.

The only clue we have for this tale is “swimming until the water turns to foam.” Swim around the island until bubbles start to spawn in the water. Once they spawn, don’t leave the area; instead, stay in the bubble’s AOE until you are completely out of stamina. A small cutscene will play out, and you will be transferred back to the coastline. Wait for a while, and you will complete the strange tale.

All Secrets to This Strange Tale:

There are two interesting facts about the Strange Tale; it will not influence your quest, but they add a bit of lore details to the things that are happening on the sea.

    • First Secret: After talking to Ms. Bulan, you can wait in the same spot, and you will see another NPC spawning in the spot. If that doesn’t work, you can just quit the Game and come back to the same spot, and you will find a new NPC, Haggard Tourist. Talking to him will reveal a bit more information about the strange sea.

Note: If you don’t see him on the spot, change the time to 8 at night, just the opposite of Ms. Bulan’s spawn time zone.

    • Second Secret: If you wait till around 8 in the morning, you will find Ms. Bulan in the spot without her son, and she will give away details about the anomaly present in the sea that is causing the bubble spawns.

    #3. Strange Tales: Tunnel Storyline

NTE Strange Tale 3 Tunnel Storyline (1)
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Getting inside an empty tunnel at night to see a ghost

This one is located a bit right of the second Strange Tale. Just head down the road, and near the Tunnel entrance, you will see two people talking about the tunnel being haunted.

You can head inside the tunnel and wait till night or just get inside the tunnel at night. Either way, you will see ghosts doing random things inside the tunnel, but none of them will engage in any combat. Think of it as a haunted tunnel at amusement parks, just cross the tunnel, just sightseeing ghosts around you.

#4. Strange Tales: Message in a Bottle

NTE Strange Tale 4 Message in Bottle
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Find the message in a bottle leading to the mysterious Sewer Seprent NPC.

Near the tunnel entrance of the last Strange Tale, where we waited for the ghost, head to the entrance and check the coast area on the tunnel’s right. You will find a bottle lying on the sand. Interact with the bottle, and you will get the message:

    • Go to Breakwater Stone Boneyard
    • Light the bonfire in the location found on the beach.

Just stick to the coastline, where we found the bottle, follow the route ahead, and you will arrive at the Breakwater Stone Boneyard. Now our job is to light the bonfire in Breakwater Stone Boneyard, and we will need a special firestone to light the bonfire.

    • Strange Firestone Location: Here, interact with the blue box in the wooden boat, lying near the coastline, and you will get ‘Strange Firestone.’ This item is needed to progress in the Strange Tale.

Now with the Strange Firestone in possession, get inside the small area next to it, and you will find a teddy bear, and near the bear, you will find an empty bonfire. Use the Strange Firestone on the bonfire to light it, and it will release a purple flame. Now wait till the next day, set the timer to Night and the weather to Rainy. If you are wondering what the teddy bear is for? Then, take a look at the guide on all 9 gifts from 21 locations in NTE.

Now you will meet with the Sewer Serpent, it’s just a man wearing an orange suit. He is going to ask you a single question, and your job is to answer it properly.

    • Question: What is the secret code?
      • Option #1: Adurag (Correct Answer)
      • Option #2: Gerudo
      • Option #3: Gouda

Now you will be given three options:

    • Report to the Security Office
    • Order them to return
    • Let the Garuda go

There is no correct answer here; you can pick any one of them, and you will complete the Strange Tale. But I will recommend choosing Let Garuda Go, because you will get extra Fons currency for picking the option. If you decide to pick the option, ‘Report to the Security Office‘, then talk to the cops later to complete the Strange Tale.

Note: If you don’t talk to him, then you will have to wait 24 hours for him to spawn in the same spot again.

#5. Strange Tales: Flying Fish of Sunward Island

NTE Strange Tale 5 Flying Fish of Sunward Island
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

    Objective: Catch some flying fishes

Near the Tunnel entrance, take the path on the right, near the coast, and you will see two people arguing on the right on a fisherman’s dock. They will be talking about flying fish in the area, so it’s time to pick up the fishing rod and go fishing near the spot. Now, the fish you should keep in mind is called the Blue Scales Banner or the Red Scale Banner (Catch either of them to complete the tale).

Tip: If you want to increase the chances of catching special fish, then use the Nectar Bait. In terms of how many you should get, I would say get five or six to be on the safer side.

#6. Strange Tales: Great Jerry’s Rusted Blade

    NTE Strange Tale Great Jerry
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Retrieve a weapon for the dead pirate.

Head to the south of the map to meet with Great Jerry (A ghost) near his pirate ship (Also a ghost). He will ask for his Rusted Blade. The only way to get the blade is to get it from Ken, found in the Resort north of the Great Jerry’s location. So head to the Resort, north of the pirate ship, and head to the second floor.

Note: To spawn the Great Jerry, you will want the time to be set to Night (Midnight) and the weather setting to Sunny. If he doesn’t show up, then click on the timer and pick the next day. You will find him in the ghost form near the bonfire. You also need to remember to talk to him three times to start the questline. You will be given dialogue options during the conversation, but none of them hold any importance.

Head to the Resort, set the timer to morning to see Ken on the second floor of the Resort. Just take the wooden stairs on the first floor to get to the second floor. You will find Ken behind the desk, Sunward Island Fishing Tournament Organizer, talking to Arid Angler. Just interact with Ken, and you will get the Rusted Blade. Now, head back to Great Jerry to complete the quest. Remember to change the time to night for Great Jerry to appear in the spot.

#7. Strange Tales: Dance! Dance! Dance!

NTE Strange Tale Dance Dance Dance
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Attend a ghost dancing party

Get to the Lighthouse area east of the ReroRero Phone Booth, as shown in the picture. Get to the entrance of the Lighthouse. The entire place has a stone wall barricaded, and it might feel tempting to jump over the wall to get to the entrance, but the game might get bugged. So, be on the safer side, just get to the entrance of the spot.

Once you are at the spot, set the weather to sunny and the timer to 10 at night. And you will see blue fire glow at the entrance, play the music with the Cubox Portable Player (Any music), and head inside to see the dancing ghosts.

#8. Strange Tales: Ringing the Weather Bell

    Objective: Just ring the bell.

If you are around the Lighthouse, you will find a weather bell a bit north near the spot. It’s right by the road, just walk up to the bell and interact to ring it, and that’s it. If the ringing of the bell doesn’t finish the tale, then repeat ringing the bell to complete it.

#9. Strange Tales: The Buried Sword

NTE Strange Tale 9 Golden Sword
Image via TheGameSlayer | Hotta Studio

Objective: Remove the Buried Sword by getting its three pieces.

Here, we will need to gather three items to unearth the Buried Sword located on the island to the east. All trees share the same giant-like appearance, and all of them glow yellow in the dark; you are not going to miss them in any way. We will need to obtain:

    • Broken Guard: Found west of the ReroRero Phonebooth
    • Broken Hilt: Located South of the Resort
    • Broken Blade: Found near the Lighthouse

All three of them will be located at a golden glowing tree. Since we are tracking down glowing trees, set the timer to Night and the weather to Sunny. I’ve marked the locations on the map. Get to all three spots circled in orange, and you will get all three items.

Broken Guard and Broken Hilt are located west of the map, but Broken Blade’s tree is found near the Lighthouse, where we did the Dance! Dance! Dance! Strange Tale. Once you gather all of them, head to the island down east, marked as a star icon. Here you will find a rock beside a tree with glowing letters on it. When you are over the rock, you will get an option to “Submit item“.

When you click on Submit Item, the pop-up box will open, with three slots at the bottom asking for confirmation. Here, add all three items we received earlier, “Broken Guard/ Broken Hilt/ Broken Blade,” and hit Confirm to finish the last Strange Tale in the Sunni Island.

Congratulations, you have completed all 9 Strange Tales on the Sunni Island.
