The Kusarigama is a powerful weapon in Ghost of Yotei, and one of the new ones added to Atsu’s arsenal, unlike what Jin Sakai had to manage with in GoT. Atsu can access this weapon in the game after going through a fairly long quest. This weapon does particularly well when dealing with shielded enemies, and in this guide, we have put up details on how to get your hands on a Kusarigama in Ghost of Yotei.
Guide To Get Kusarigama In Ghost Of Yotei

You need to complete the Way of the Kusarigama quest to get access to the Kusarigama in Ghost of Yotei. However, you also need to have initiated The Kitsune questline. As you progress in this questline, you will reach the Teshio Ridge. Upon reaching there, you’ll meet Master Enomoto, and the quest will begin. The first step here is to reach Owl Mountain from Teshio Ridge.
How To Reach The Owl Mountain In Ghost Of Yotei

Start from the Red Crane Inn, and make your way up the Teshio River, following the path marked in the map above to reach Owl Mountain. The Inn is one of the areas you have to reach as part of the main quest, and it also unlocks a new fast travel area. You won’t have to enter the inn, but unlocking the Inn is important as the journey is long.
Your next step is to follow the Teshio River from the Red Crane Inn. Keep following the river, and be on the lookout for a hut along the way – a sign that you are on the right track. Keep following this path and you’ll reach the Sarobetsu Lake, where you’ll also meet the bounty target Snowstorm Katagiri.
Defeat the bounty target, and you’ll then notice the Nakajima Sake House. This is another inn where you can catch your breath for a little while. You must do that since the moment you enter Teshio Ridge, where you get introduced to the new freezing status affliction. This mechanic basically clips a part of your health and stamina if you stay in the cold for a long time. Entering a warm area removes it, which makes both the Red Crane Inn and Nakajima Sake House important checkpoints.
From the Nakajima Sake House, travel north until you notice a road that will eventually split. Take the left turn from here and you’ll reach Owl Mountain. As soon as you reach Owl Mountain, the first step of the Way of the Kusarigama quest will be initiated.
Search For The Bear And Owl Statues

From here onwards, the quest is pretty linear. Your first task here will be to search for the Bear and Owl statues. It isn’t too difficult as the statues can be found right at the face of the Owl Mountain across the wooden bridge. You’ll also meet Master Enomoto here.
Defeat The Nine Tails

Once you meet Master Enomoto, you’ll be asked to defeat the Nine Tails. These are any demon foxes, but rather an enemy faction, and there will be a couple of them you’ll have to fight. Once defeated, you move on to the next step.
Cut The Bamboo Trees

The next step involves following Master Enomoto and cutting a couple of Bamboo trees with your weapon. All you need to do here is swing your weapon, and you’re good. After that, you will be asked to break a few pots by swinging your weapon.
Defeat The Second Set Of Nine Tails

You’ll be asked to fight the Nine Tails again, and this time, Master Enomoto will teach you about the effectiveness of the Kusarigama. You’ll face a couple of shielded enemies, and simply swinging the ball end on them will disarm the shields. Once the enemies have been disarmed, defeat them with the Sickle end of the Kusarigama.
Reach The Next Training Area

After you have defeated the second set of Nine Tails, you’ll have to then reach the next training area. Simply follow Master Enomoto, as you’ll need to complete a few jumping puzzles to reach the final training area.
Acquire The Kusarigama

Once you have reached the final training area, you will now have to complete the final sets of training. However, most of the training is through cinematics, and the actual gameplay is very small. You will have to swing your Kusarigama to hit a few targets and then sit in the freezing lake to reflect.
You’ll then have to fight Master Enomoto, though it mostly involves doing the things you have learned so far. This includes breaking a shield on Master Enomoto’s hand and then breaking his guard with the Kusarigama. Once you do that, another cinematic sequence will begin, and you’ll finally access the Kusarigama.
This adds another great weapon to your arsenal, in addition to the Dual Katanas that you should have already unlocked. The next steps for you are to get some of the best early-game armor sets and charms, and you are all set to wreak havoc as Atsu in Ghost of Yotei.
