If I didn’t have a keen eye to spot the unexpected in Where Winds Meet, I would have easily overlooked the strange, mythical deer trapped under some vine, unmoving and ethereal.
When I approached it, the deer was immobile and silent. I quickly checked my quest log for any new information, but found nothing. For a while, I thought maybe my mind was playing tricks on me, and I chose to move on.
My turning point happened right after completing the Gleaming Abyss campaign. I was mysteriously rewarded with a Longevity Fruit seed. This unique seed sent me off on a quest for answers. Where did this deer come from? What does this fruit seed do? And, most importantly, if all this was connected to some hidden, darker quest that I didn’t know about.
This all led me to a crazed worshipper. I could hear him whispering about a mythical deer, which opened the floodgates even further. I suddenly realized that my search was not in vain and that I could finally solve the mystery.
If you need some help as well, everything that I have compiled below will help save you time and effort while completing the Lost Cause Prayers quest in Where Winds Meet.
Lost Cause Prayers Quest Guide – Where Winds Meet

Trigger the Lost Cause Prayers quest by collecting the Village Chief’s Notes and speaking to Lu Sheng near Tiger Fort, Twinbeast Ridge. Also, if you head over a bit west of Tiger Fort, you will spot a trapped mythical deer.
For the quest, you need to plant the Longevity Fruit Seed that you had collected from the Gleaming Abyss campaign and turn it into a tree. Plus, you also need to find two Longevity Fruits in different locations. Then, turn the fruits in as offerings for the mythical deer shrine.
Plant the Longevity Fruit Seed

Head back towards Lu Sheng’s location near Tiger Fort and plant the Longevity Fruit seeds into the plot of dirt in front of him. While stepping on the dirt mound, you will get a notification to plant.
Interact with it and select the Longevity Fruit Seed. It will take a while for the seed to turn into a tree, so your next step is to find actual Longevity Fruits to place as offerings for the two mythical deer shrines.
Longevity Fruit Location

To locate the first Longevity Fruit, proceed to Wraith Village in Witherwilds. Enter the building left of the teleport waypoint. Advance to the top floor, take the ladder up, and check the crate on your right to get the Longevity Fruit.

There is a second Longevity Fruit to collect, head further west from Wraith Village towards the edge of Gleaming Abyss. You will come across a small cave entrance on the mountain wall covered in vines. Use a flaming arrow to burn them down, revealing a Buddha statue holding the second Longevity Fruit.
Make an Offering
You now need to head over to two mythical deer shrines and offer the Longevity Fruit. Before you begin, make sure that it is anytime after midnight before handing over the fruit.

The first shrine is in the southwestern section of Twinbeast Ridge, near the shoreline. From the Tiger Fort waypoint, keep traveling southwest. Keep an eye out for a fire pit and a giant boulder near it.

The second shrine is southwest of the Tiger Fort itself. If you travel northeast from your previous shrine, you will spot the next shrine. With both shrines, you need to place the fruit in front of the large boulder next to the fire pit. You will spot an interactive section to place the fruits..
Return to the Longevity Fruit Tree

Head back to the dirt plot where you had previously planted the Longevity Fruit seed to find it has now turned into a tree.
Speak to the passerby under the tree, and he will mock you for believing in the mythical deer. Since you had already seen the mythical deer with your eyes, head back to the location where you found the deer tied up.
But, alas, the deer is now gone. Investigate the vines that shackled the deer during your previous visit, and what you’ll find might just prove you weren’t mad after all. This completes the Lost Cause Prayers quest, and you will receive the following rewards.
- Echo Jade x40
- Qinghe Exploration x10
- Coin x5000
- Stored XP x5000
