Lockpicking is something you’ll frequently need to use in Dying Light: The Beast. You’ll need them if you want to get the most out of military convoys and enjoy high-tier gear and loot. Unfortunately, if you don’t know much about lockpicking in this game, you might find the system confusing. In this guide, we discuss how to lockpick doors and structures in Dying Light: The Beast, what to look out for, and how to procure more lockpicks.
How to Lockpick in Dying Light: The Beast

Position the pick with your left analog stick, and start turning the lock using the right analog stick. The trick here is to find the spot that will allow you to twist the lock in its entirety and unlock it. If your lockpick starts shaking, stop immediately and find a different spot with your left analog stick, and then try rotating the lock once more, slowly. If your lock twists in its entirety, and you hear a clicking noise, you have successfully unlocked the structure/lock.
If you are unsuccessful, the pick will break after a few tries and get replaced with a new one. Easy and Medium locks have a lot of leeway for tracking the position. The game lets you lockpick for the first time in the mission “Life After Life.”
The lockpick system in Dying Light: The Beast is similar to the past games in the zombie survival horror series. In fact, it mirrors the system in Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
How to Get More Lockpicks in Dying Light: The Beast

In Dying Light: The Beast, you won’t have an infinite amount of lockpicks. In fact, if you aren’t frequently successful in using your lockpick, it will break, and you’ll run out of them. Fortunately, like most items in-game, you can craft a lockpick in Dying Light: The Beast.
To craft more lockpicks, go and interact with either your workbench inside the safehouse or by visiting the crafting menu. It is located under the Gadgets section, and costs three scraps. You’ll find plenty of scraps throughout the post-apocalyptic Castor Woods, so you don’t have to worry much about breaking your lockpicks.
With this, you are all set to pick locks and open doors to loot treasures, collect resources, and fight zombies. If you are looking for a friend to join in your adventure, have a look at our guide on how to unlock co-op in Dying Light: The Beast.
