With the full game out now, you get to continue the Trials of AQL questline. In this guide, we have all the details on how to go about locating the Third Trial of AQL. Thankfully, unlike the first and second trials of AQL, this one does not have any task or ‘trials’ to be undertaken; it just has you hear a lore dump once you find the location. So let’s get started
Third Trial of AQL Location Dune Awakening
The Third Trial of AQL location is the Western Vermillus Gap, the second area that you come across after spending time initially in the South Hagga Basin. You will reach this place as part of the normal story progression in the game, and is marked by more orange sand as compared to the white sands in Hagga Basin.
While making your way to this location, if you are travelling on your sandbike, watch out for the dotted circles on the map. These are high alert zones for the Sandworms; if you happen to go through these, the sand vibrates at a faster rate, alerting Sandworms to your presence, and you do not want that.
On arriving at the Western Vermillus Gap, look around for an entrance as shown in the image above. The location will get marked as ‘Cave of the Lost Pilgrim’ on your map. Once you enter this cave, while there are enemies to kill and loot to grab, to make a straight run for the Third Trial of AQL, do these steps:
- Head straight into the cave, and from the first well-lit area in the cave, take a left down the winding path
- You will come across a moisture sealed cave, indicating that you are on the right path
- Tear the entrance, and keep heading straight. The path will be illuminated periodically with crystals and light.
- At the very end will be the altar, and the quest objective will change to ‘Listen to the shigawire recording at the destroyed altar’.
Do exactly that, and you learn that the Fremen scholar was able to make out the name of a planet from the carved altar – Bela Tegeuse. The quest will now update to The Fourth Trial of AQL.
