Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Should Griffons Choose Sentinels Of Nature Or Grey Wardens?

Dragon Age: The Veilguard follows some of the mechanics of its predecessors, and there are a few tough choices to make that will impact your gameplay. While there aren’t a lot of major choices that bear consequences, you can alter your path towards getting one of the three endings by picking the right options. Some choices can push your character towards a certain ending, while others can help you gain or lose relationships with your companions.

There is a similar choice to be made during one of the key moments regarding the Griffons; where you have to choose between having them become Sentinels of Nature or return to Grey Wardens. Each choice has a unique outlook, and you can gain new dialog options and rewards for your choices. We have put up details on all of this in the guide below; for you to make a choice that suits your playstyle and role-playing the best

Sentinels Of Nature Or Return To Grey Wardens Choice In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

You will have to make a choice about the Griffons while completing the Profane and the Lost quest as part of Davrin’s companion questline. After talking to Davrin about the rescued Griffons, you can either choose to let them stay at Arlathan and become Sentinels of Nature or leave with the Grey Wardens. This decision decides Davrin’s fate, and his quest to become the Hero of the Veilguard.

Choice 1: Let The Griffons Become Sentinels Of Nature

If you pick this option, you have decided that the Griffons will stay and protect Arlathan. In the process, Davrin will gain the Veilguard Skill Battlemaster, which increases the damage of all Assan abilities. While using Death from Above or Assan Strike, there is a 25% damage increase and Precision as well.

Besides this, Davrin can equip the Wildwood Benefactor Legendary Armor. This armor offers an AoE Stagger on all enemies while detonating staggered enemies. Also, the stagger rate is increased by 10% per enemy hit by Detonations.

Choice 2: Let The Griffons Return To The Grey Wardens

Returning the Griffons to the Grey Wardens will offer a different set of outcomes. For this option, Davrin will gain the Defender Veilguard Skill, where all Assan abilities will have 25% shorter cooldowns. While using Death from Above and Assan Strike, there is a chance to grant Deflect.

The armor option will also change, and Davrin gets the Grey Benefactor Legendary Armor instead. Using this armor will change all Detonation damage to Fire damage, and increase Fire damage by 25%. This applies when targets are inflicted with Burning status effect, and increases per stack.

    Which Option Should You Pick?

Your choice of letting Griffons become Sentinels of Nature or return to the Grey Wardens does not impact the main story, so the choice is best made depending on which armor and skill combination aligns with your playstyle.

If you utilize a Mage Rook build, then you will benefit more from Davrin having the Grey Benefactor armor set. Since this helps apply Fire damage with Burning status effect, it can help further enhance your playstyle. Moreover, having reduced cooltimes for the Assan abilities can help complete fights quicker.

But, if you have Rook who deals more Stun and physical damage rather than elemental, then you would prefer Davrin have the Wildwood Benefactor armor. Plus, with higher damage rates, you can tackle higher level enemies with ease. So, in short, your choice entirely depends on how you wish to play the game.

This isn’t the end of all the choices that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has to offer, as there are a lot more major choices and consequences while completing the main story quests. You can check out the ones about Neve, Solas, or Bellara to see what options you can pick to suit your gameplay.
