At the end of every companion quest in Veilguard, you will have to make a decision that will reflect your gameplay or your character. The choices can be a bit difficult to make, it has moral consequences and yet at the same time, you will have to forgo some gear that would’ve helped out in the later sections of the game. The choice for Neve at the end of her personal quest also has rewards and moral consequences attached to it. Here in this guide, we will take an in-depth look at whether Neve should protect Dock Town or bring it Hope.

Protect Dock Town Or Bring It Hope?

You get a different armor piece and skill depending upon which option you choose. You can decide whether to protect Dock Town or bring it hope basis the armor and skill that works best for your gameplay style. The decision does not impact the main storyline or cut off romance possibilities with Neve; or stop Neve from attaining the Hero of the Veilguard status.

You will have to decide the fate of Dock Town during the last quest for Neve, “The Returned Cultist Case“. Here you will have two choices either to protect the Town or bring hope to the town. Let’s look at what happens in both cases.

Protect Dock Town: Rewards & Consequences

    Story Consequences:

Choosing to protect the town will lead Neve to become a Shadowy Protector of Dock Town.

“You’ve convinced Neve that she best serves Dock Town as its shadowy protector.“

    Winter’s Wrath (Veilguard Skill):

    • Neve’s Critical Damage rises by 50%.
    • Ability damage on low-health enemies gets a boost of 25%.
    • Lowers the Ability Damage cooldown by 20%.

    Threader’s Plates (Legendary Armor):

    • Enemies can only be detonated once but they will remain Sundered.
    • Sundered effectiveness gets a boost of 20%.

Neve is Dock Town’s protector. The Venatori should fear her. She’ll watch Dock Town’s back and know that the team will watch hers.

Bring Hope To Dock Town: Rewards & Consequences

    Story Consequences:

Here Neve will become an inspired hero to the Dock Town.

“You’ve convinced Neve that the people of Dock Town need to see her and the hope she represents.“

    Cold Justice (Veilguard Skill):

    • Raises maximum chilled stacks by 1.
    • Chilled effectiveness increases by 2%
    • Frozen duration now gets a 100% boost.

    Investigator’s Robes (Legendary Armor):

    • Detonation will permanently lower the cold resistance on enemies.
    • Detonation will also add frozen status on enemies at cold resistance at zero.

For bringing hope back to town, you will get Cold Justice and Investigator’s robes. The highlight of the reward gear is the boost to chilled and frozen ability. But compared to the set from the first option, it falls a bit flat here.

Note: None of the choices affect the main storyline or Neve’s romance route.

Protect Dock Town Or Bring It Hope: Our Recommendation

We opted for the Dark Knight equivalent ending here and chose for Neve to become the shadowy protector of Dock Town. The increased critical damage and ability damage against low-health enemies formed the perfect way to wipe off enemy mobs and bosses.

There are similar decisions to be made in case of Bellara as well, and if you are about to near that questline’s completion, you may want to have a look at our guide on whether Bellara should keep or free the Archive.
