Ghost of Yotei gives you Charms to equip that help in assassinations, boosting range, and melee damage. The game also offers charms that help you with resource gathering, which we equip most of the time, and then switch back to a combat-oriented charm to deal damage. Here are the best early game charms in Ghost of Yotei.
Charm of Mount Yotei

- Where to Find: Completing the first Reliquary of Courage puzzle in Yotei Grasslands.
- Leveling Up Task: Solving Mountain Reliquary Puzzle
It reduces damage taken by a small amount. This is a useful Charm to equip as you learn the ropes and figure out a gameplay style that suits you best.
Charm of Thoughtful Restoration
- Where to Find: Take a bath in the first Hot Spring on the map to get the charm. It doesn’t have to be any specific Hot Spring; any random spot will be able to give you the charm.
- Leveling Up Task: Visiting hot springs
This charm will increase the maximum health. This is also a great charm to pair, or use as an alternative to the damage reduction charm.
Takezo’s Charm of Renew Determination

- Where to Find: Takezo the Unrivaled myth requires you to talk to Ugetsu the storyteller, found on the camp next to the Coastal Duelling Tree, southwest of Lake Kuttara. You will gain the charm after beating the Disciple for Duel Before the Mountain.
- Leveling Up Task: None
You will gain a decent amount of Spirit after taking damage from enemies. If you are struggling in the early game, this charm will help you out by giving out Spirit upon taking hits. While the charm has its perks, the biggest downside of the charm is that it is not upgradeable.
Takezo’s Charm of Bold Deflection

- Where to Find: You will gain the charm after beating the Disciple for Duel Beneath Red Leaves.
- Leveling Up Task: Parrying multiple times in a row without taking damage.
The charm allows you to deal additional stagger damage to enemies after parrying. Parrying is the sole focus; if your gameplay revolves around parrying, then this one aligns perfectly with this playstyle. Even upgrading the charm requires you to parry an enemy’s attack a certain number of times.
Tip: Pair Takezo’s Charm of Bold Deflection with Takezo’s Charm of Bracing Victory. This restores a small amount of health upon killing staggered enemies. So, parry them to inflict additional Stagger Damage with the Bold Deflection charm, and then kill the enemy to restore health with the Bracing Victory Charm.
Father’s Charm

- Where to Find: Interact with the Mount Yotei Shrine found at the top of Mount Yotei. Here you will find both Mother’s and Father’s Charm.
- Leveling up Task: You must take part in Sumi-e paintings.
Since we are on the topic of parry, Father’s Charm will be an excellent choice for people who get the thrill from perfect parry. This charm restores a good amount of health from performing a perfect parry.
Tip: You can get more benefit from this charm by adding to the Bounty Master Armor set, creating a perfect parrying machine in Ghost of Yotei. The armor set will provide more perks and bonuses to the perfect parry move, helping you gain even more advantage by releasing parry.
Charm of Izanagi

- Where to Find: Located at the Sun’s Peak Shrine, west of Otaru Hills.
- Leveling Up Task: Assassinating enemies while hiding in the tall grass.
Charm of Izanagi helps you gain a good amount of health in return for assassination. If you are taking a stealth approach to the game, then do check our guide on stealth armors that will fit perfectly with the Charm of Izanagi to give you the best stealth experience in the early run of Ghost of Yotei.
Charm of Assassin’s Resolve

- Where to Find: Found on Flowing Water Fox Den, located north of Tranquil Falls, northwest of Lake Kuttara.
- Leveling Up Task: None
Charm of Assassin’s Resolve helps you gain a good amount of additional Spirit after assassination. It acts just as Charm of Izanagi, but you will gain Spirit instead of Health. Unlike the previous charm, the Charm of Assassin’s Resolve is not upgradeable.
Charm of Bountiful Harvest

- Where to Find: This charm is located at Shikotsu Woods, located west of Yotei Grasslands.
- Leveling up Task: None
This charm leans towards resource gathering, as it will help you increase the amount of Wood, Flowers, and Plants after collecting them. Another charm that follows the same route as the Bountiful Harvest Charm is the Charm of Kanayago. Charm of Kanayago increases the amount of rare metals and black powder collected from scavenging. Charm of Kanayago is located at the Fall’s Rest Shrine. Equip either of the items, depending on what resource collectible you are focusing on.
Charm of Kibitsuhiko

- Where to Find: You will find it at the Risen Fog Shrine located south of the Great Lake.
- Leveling Up Task: Eliminating enemies with a headshot while concentration is active.
This charm is perfect for anyone who is running a bow weapon-focused playstyle. Any headshot lands on the enemy to increase the concentration by a minor amount. When you are running a range build, you want to have the time to land a clean shot. Charm of Kibitshiko is perfect for anyone who picks up the bow and deals devastating damage with enough time to land a shot.
Charm of Amenowakahiko

- Where to Find: This charm is found on Blooming Ridge Shrine, located northeast of Yotei Grasslands, south of Serpent’s Pass.
- Leveling Up Task: None
Land any headshots from this charm, and you will gain some Spirit. This one acts just like the Charm of Izanagi, but instead of assassination, the Charm of Amenowakahiko relies on ranged headshots to gain Spirit.
These charms will help you immensely on your first run in Ghost of Yotei. Now, if you want to customize your appearance, then here are all the locations of Dye in the game.
