Chinese dev and publisher Kuro Games has lifted the curtains on the game’s second phase of its 3.6 Update, which, on September 10th, brought Jingran as the premier Resonator banner—and added a lot of high-impact moves with him. Following alongside him are rerun banners of both Hiyuki and Mornye, as well as the three characters’ respective signature weapons.
But how do you build him properly? Jingran is a massive powerhouse, capable of dealing big damage numbers as a main DPS-centered character, but if you read our previous guide on him, then you know he has some quirks you should pay attention to. And that’s why we’re here, so follow along to find out how to make the most of him.
Best Echoes For Jingran

Unlike most characters, Jingran’s core Echo selection is dictated by a defining quirk in his passive abilities: his baseline DEF stat is permanently locked at 0, even if you equip DEF-oriented Echoes in his kit.
That’s because Jingran has a unique trait of scaling his offensive power from his Max HP stat, so focusing on building that massive health pool is not just recommended but, in this particular case, paramount(as well as getting a good team together for Jingran). This bodes well with his second trait—which is relying on consistently landing critical hits—and these two factors cannot be sacrificed if you want Jingran to be the monster he is meant to be.
In order to achieve this, most specialists recommend aiming for a 50,000 Max HP pool, which is doable if you follow a custom, 4 4 1 1 1 Echo pattern. That means equipping two Overlord-class Echoes first, then filling the three blanks with 1-star Echoes. This is important because Wuthering Waves does have an auto-equip tool for Echoes that follows a “recommended” setting, but most of the time, the game’s understanding on optimal choices is a default hybrid set that will focus on attack, defense, and resonance energy. For Jingran, this is very harmful.
By following the 4 4 1 1 1 setup, you’ll be able to secure the necessary Crit Rate and Crit DMG main stats, while the three 1-cost Echoes are all dedicated to HP% increase, perfectly balancing Jingran’s high health thresholds and maximizing his damage output.
In this case, you’ll want the “Lamp of Nether Road” Sonata set—either the two-piece or the full, five-piece. The former grants a flat +10% Max HP, while its 5-piece effect grants 5% Crit Rate whenever the character receives a shield (stacking up to 4 times for a 20% Crit Rate total) alongside a 15% Fusion DMG Bonus at maximum stacks. Regardless of which road you’re following, the main Echo should always be “Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis”, which scales directly off Max HP while boosting both Fusion and Heavy Attack damage.
Jingran’s Best Weapons

Again, for weapon choice, Jingran does have a lot of options to go for, but choosing the right one requires prioritizing HP, Crit stats, or Heavy Attack DMG bonuses, as standard attack-centric broadblades provide diminished returns due to his unique HP-to-ATK conversion mechanics.
Sadly, out of his four best options, three are locked in featured banners, which means they are only available for limited times during certain character reruns. Having said that, here are the four best weapon choices for Jingran:
- Thousandfold Deliverance: As with all other Resonators (besides Rover, of course), Jingran’s signature broadblade is also his undisputed best-in-slot option, since it provides a massive 72.2% HP secondary stat, dramatically reducing the difficulty of reaching his 50,000 Max HP target. Also, as a passive, this weapon grants an All-Attribute DMG Bonus, stacks additional Crit DMG and Heavy Attack Crit Rate upon gaining shields, and enables his Heavy Attacks to ignore up to 30% of the target’s DEF.
- Thunderflare Dominion: The strongest non-signature 5-star alternative. It supplies a high Crit Rate secondary stat, boosts Heavy Attack DMG after casting an Intro or Skill, and incorporates a DEF-ignore mechanic triggered by shield acquisition.
- Verdant Summit: A reliable 5-star stat stick that grants a substantial Crit DMG secondary stat, an All-Attribute DMG Bonus, and a straightforward Heavy Attack DMG multiplier increase following Intro or Liberation casts.
- Aureate Zenith: The premier budget-friendly option. As an accessible 4-star weapon, it provides Crit DMG alongside a significant Heavy Attack DMG bonus after casting Resonance Liberation, keeping Jingran’s damage output competitive without requiring heavy premium investment.
Here’s how to obtain each one:
| Weapon | Rarity | How to Obtain |
| Thousandfold Deliverance | 5-star | Pulled via Featured Weapon Convene (Jingran’s signature weapon, alongside Jingran in Version 3.6 Phase 2). |
| Thunderflare Dominion | 5-star | Pulled via Featured Weapon Convene (it is also Augusta’s signature weapon, so it’s limited to her eventual rerun). |
| Verdant Summit | 5-star | Pulled via Featured Weapon Convene (it is also Jiyan’s signature weapon, so it’s limited to his eventual rerun). |
| Aureate Zenith | 4-star | Pioneer Podcast (Battle Pass reward selection). |
Jingran Stat Breakdown

To make the most efficient use of progression materials (more on those below), investment should be funneled directly into the abilities and attributes that drive his primary combat loop instead of focusing on stats that yield no benefit.
The main farming should be focused on the Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis and Thousand-Puppet Pavilion boss fights, since they both drop the two most important items for upgrading Jingran’s stats and skills. Here’s what you should prioritize:
Ability Leveling Priority
- Forte Circuit & Basic Attack: These two skill trees should be leveled first and in tandem. His Forte Circuit contains the primary damage multipliers for his stance-swapping Heavy Attacks (“Soul Raid” and “Stardome Meander”); while his Basic Attack tree has the third and fourth stages of Jingran’s normal combos scale as Heavy Attack damage and generate the Qi necessary to fuel his stance rotations.
- Resonance Liberation: Upgrading his Liberation enhances his burst damage window and elevates the persistent damage dealt by his summoned familiar (Chimei Wangliang) during his Yinghuo state (which is triggered and maintained for 15 seconds after casting his Resonance Liberation).
- Resonance Skill: Provides supplementary resource generation and solid follow-up damage, but contributes less overall DPS than his Forte and Basics.
- Intro Skill: Serves primarily to convert accumulated Ghost Shroud stacks into offensive bonuses upon entry; its individual damage scaling is minimal.
That’s not to say you should forget about the less important trees, of course. As RPG players, we should always strive to fully upgrade our characters. This is just a suggestion of which ones come first and which ones come last.
Stat Tuning Priority
- Max HP & Crit Stats: Max HP is his most vital stat, directly converting into bonus ATK, Fusion DMG Bonus, and incoming healing capacity. Crit Rate and Crit DMG are equally essential to ensure these converted stats translate into high-impact hits.
- Energy Regeneration: Aim for roughly 125% Energy Regen through substats to maintain smooth, uninterrupted Resonance Liberation cycles.
- Heavy Attack DMG Bonus: Provides a direct damage multiplier for his primary attack mechanics.
- DEF: Avoid. Completely. As we have stated earlier, Jingran’s DEF stat is permanently locked at zero, meaning no equipment, Echo or upgrade will change it. Flat ATK and ATK% rolls should also be treated as low priority, as his attack power is generated almost entirely through HP conversion.
Materials Rundown For Upgrading Jingran

The two most important ones are the Forged Empyrean Sigh and the Skyward Glazed Heart: the former can be farmed indefinitely as a reward for beating the Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis Overworld Boss Battle (in which you also obtain Jingran’s Echo of the same name), while the latter comes as a reward for beating the Thousand-Puppet Pavilion Weelçy Boss Battle, a fight you can undertake three times per week.
What we’re trying to say is: bear with it, because this part is a weeks-long effort. Here’s the breakdown.

Final Thoughts
That’s…a lot. Upgrading characters in Wuthering Waves is, as a general rule, a very long, drawn-out effort. But to properly build Jingran, Kuro Games really went overboard with the technical bits, since this new Resonator requires a bit of comprehension of the game’s overall percentages in damage and HP levels—which is something casual players tend to avoid entirely.
Still, the rewards for such effort are nothing to scoff at: as Resonators go, Jingran is easily one of the heaviest, most intense frontline DPS dealers in the entire meta. Granted, he does not function well as a standalone unit, and you’ll need to pay equal attention to what teams you’re using him on, but he is quite excellent at the end of rotations, dishing out the damage that finalizes a big, meaningful sequence of attacks.
