Some quests in Destiny 2’s new expansion will prove challenging, as you need to figure out some puzzles or find new routes to unlock new areas. During the Dark Academia quest, you will be tasked with unlocking the door that is currently locked by a generator. The generator itself is protected by a shield, so you need to find a way to go around this. This guide will explain how to unlock the Dark Academia door in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 Dark Academia Quest: How to Unlock the Door

Your task here is to break the shield and use the generator to power up the door. The Dark Academia is a side quest that unlocks after completing the Morphology mission. Following the side quest will take you to Augur’s Bethel, Kepler. Once you reach the locked door, you will spot a generator protected by a shield. Around the area are three glowing batteries to find and burst to overload the generator. Below are all the locations you need to check to find them.

- For the first battery, turn away from the locked door and jump down to the ditch below. On your left is the battery behind a grilled vent that you can burst using any weapon.

- For the second battery, make your way up the ramp on the left of the door till you find some pipes on your right. Climb on top of those pipes and make your way over to the Charge Matter Realignment and interact with it.

- Head back down the pipe, go across the ramp, and walk on the other pipe right across. You will spot another grilled vent, use the charge matter on it to break it open and shoot the second battery.

- The third battery is easier to find, as you just need to head back to the ramp and continue forward. You will soon come across a metal pipe that can be hit above. Do that, then the vent with the last battery will be revealed to you.

After bursting all three batteries, turn back around and head down the ramp. Just before you enter the doorway at the end, jump up and look to your left to find a Matterspark portal. Get on it and return to the locked door to power up the generator and unlock the door.
Bug: After progressing through the doorway, you are required to scan the remains in front of you as part of the quest. This is seemingly bugged as this option does not appear for some players. To bypass this, you can try the following.
- Collect at least 3 Strangelet Capsules by completing the 3rd zone quests. Head back to this area after speaking to Lodi or Ikora and you will get the option to scan.
- You can also leave the area and respawn here to see if it works. The quest can be found while interacting with the altar on Caldera, Kepler.
