Destiny 2’s The Edge of Fate now has a couple of new quests and new bosses to beat. While trying to complete the Central Academy questline, you would have encountered a new mission called Fallow. This is the second mission within this questline, and as a part of it, you need to defeat the Devastator Mind. But, before you can do that, you need to find a way to remove the Vex Shields. This guide will explain how to complete this quest objective in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate: Mission Fallow Quest Guide
After completing the first mission within the Edge of Fate questline called The Invitation, you have to get to the Altar of Relativity. Over here, you can pick up a new quest called Central Academy, and within this, you can start the second mission called Mission Fallow. Let’s take a look at how to complete the entire mission and reach the boss.
Go to the Agricultural Center
You will be tasked with seeking out the Vex that is destroying the food supply. While exploring the starting area, you will spot a portal sending out currents on the floor. You need to step on it to turn into a Matterspark, which is basically converting your body into a tiny movable spark. This will help you get into the vent inside the tunnel beside the portal.
Be careful, as there is a timer that you can see on the left side of the screen. This timer is a countdown on how long you can stay in your new form, before you turn back. Once you reach the other side quickly, continue through the hallways and up the stairs to find a large Vex enemy.
Take it down, then destroy the projector above that is shooting out a beam. This will reveal a vent covered in orange goop. After that, head near the large door to find another portal. Step on it to become a Matterspark, then quickly head down the vent. Destroy the machine on the other side to disable the shield wall, then unlock the large door.
Preserve the Aionian Food Supply
On the other side of the door is the food stock that is being destroyed by Vexes. Defeat them, then destroy the three projectors overhead to remove the shield covering the food cache. There are three caches that you must recover and transmit back to the base. Once you are done, on to the next objective.
Retrieve Final Cache
Follow the path to reach the Aionian Campus and prepare to fight off more enemies. Ignore the Matterspark portal for now and focus on clearing out the area. You will soon encounter the final Vex boss, The Devastator Mind.
Remove the Vex Shield
Use any weapon to bring down the Devastator Mind, but it won’t be long before they encase themselves in a protective shield. This is where you need to utilize the Matterspark. Hop onto the portal and quickly get into the vent on the right side platform. You will notice that the vent is covered in orange goop here as well.
Once inside the vent, find a path that will take you to one of the shield machines, similar to what you had encountered earlier. Destroy the machine to release the boss and continue with the fight. Each time you reduce the health of the Devastator Mind, it will encase itself in a shield again.
You need to repeat the steps above once more to completely eliminate the boss. This time, head into the vent on the left of the portal, next to the stairs. You will find it covered in orange goop. Destroy the second machine to bring down the shield and finish off the Devastator Mind boss fight. As the final step to the quest, you just need to acquire the Offline Data from one of the terminals nearby and use it to unlock the console ahead.
