Dave The Diver Meets The Yakuza In ‘Ichiban’s Holiday’ DLC

A crossover for the ages, Dave the Diver will team up with Ichiban from Like a Dragon in the new Ichiban’s Holiday DLC launching this April. Jaeho Hwang, the director behind Dave the Diver has professed his love for the Like a Dragon series, but collaborating Dave the Diver with Like a Dragon cements his fan spirit.

The idea for a crossover came to fruition when Jaeho Hwang met with the head of Sega’s Like a Dragon studio Mr. Yokoyama. Here’s what you can expect to see in the new collection:

    • The DLC will feature some fan-favorite mini-games from Like a Dragon.
    • For the fans of Like a Dragon, you will get to see many familiar faces as your restaurant staff.
    • All the Yakuza characters in pixelated graphics. Each character comes with its own unique visuals that include expression and movement.
    • And most importantly, Like a Dragon Humour will be present in the DLC. The devs guaranteed to bring the fun of the Like a Dragon to Dave the Diver.

The director had this to say about his love for the Like a Dragon series:

As some of you may already know, I’ve often cited the Like a Dragon series as one of my greatest gaming inspirations. From the original 2005 release to the latest RPG iterations, I’ve been captivated by the rich character development and genre-defying gameplay. It’s been a dream of mine to invite these iconic characters into Dave’s world, and now, that dream is becoming a reality.

You can buy the DLC as new paid content for Dave the Diver this April on PlayStation 4 and 5. If you are already setting your eyes on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, then Dave the Diver: Ichiban’s Holiday DLC will hit close to home. The indie smash Dave the Diver sits 90 with Universal Acclaim, holding an 8.3 favorable user score.
