Dragon Age Veilguard comes with three different endings to the game. The ending has the player making dramatic decisions and navigating through many twists and turns to land in the proper place to see the good or bad ending. So, if you are on the verge of finishing the quest and unfortunately see the bad one or vice versa, we have a guide here that goes through all the steps to achieve both a bad and good ending to the game.
Best (True) Ending In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Here we need to make sure every one of our companions makes it out alive in the game, which is harder than it sounds since the game does throw plenty of curveballs during the gameplay that could easily get them killed.
- You have to do all the quests related to the companions until all the companions are upgraded to the “Heroes of Veilguard” status.
- You also have to finish all the regional quests to gain a 3-star rating with all the factions in the Veilguard.
- Make key decisions in Chapters 6, 13, and 14.
- Choose the right dialogue in the end.
Key Decisions
Here we are going to tackle some of the key moments and how you should handle them to achieve the true or good ending to Dragon Age Veilguard. When you finally reach Chapter 11, during the quest “When Plans Align“, Here you will need to pay attention to the companion and faction strength. They both need to support you to achieve a good ending.
Key Decision: Chapter 6
Mission: ‘A Warden’s Best Friend’
During Chapter 6, you must save Minrathous or Dock Town. Here during the mission A Warden’s Best Friend, you will have the option to save the Dock Town or Treviso. If you skip the saving, you will get stuck with a 1-star rating on the faction. The faction leader will die leaving you a run with broken achievement
Key Decision: Chapter 12
Mission: “Isle of the Gods”
- When you reach Chapter 12, during the Isle of the Gods mission, you must choose between Davrin or Harding to be the candidates for the distraction team. One of them will die, it’s a guaranteed death, but it won’t infringe on our trophy or good ending.
What if you choose Davrin:
- Then Davrin dies after the boss Ghilan’nain’s Blight Shield, if he dies, this will spare Harding.
What if you choose Harding:
- Then Harding dies, here Davrin will stay alive.
Since one of the companions has to meet the bitter end, we recommend taking Davrin to the chopping block, sparing Harding’s life.
#2 Decision in Chapter 12
Here you have to choose between Bellara or Neve to eliminate the wards, just like the decision we made before with Harding and Darvin, this decision also needs to happen. But one significant change compared to the last decision, whoever you choose here, will come back later. The characters will get taken away, but we will rescue them later in the next chapter.
We will recommend you choose Bellara, once she decides to take down the ward, she will not be available for the team and she will be seen as a Dead Companion in the game but we will help her out in the next chapter.
Note: Bellara could die easily if she doesn’t have the Hero of the Veilguard title to her name.
Key Decision: Chapter 13
Here you must pick the perfect companion for the upcoming fight. The enemy will come in a variety, from mages to barbarians to large enemies. You need to choose the perfect companion that suits the role. Head to the lighthouse and interact with the Lucanis’s table to begin the assignment.
- Assign Taash to protect the Veil Jumpers.
- Taash has experience against magical wards and offers protection to others.
- Assign Lucanis to handle Antivan Crows.
- Lucanis is good against mages and does special attacks.
- Instruct Harding to look over Grey Wardens & Mourn Watch.
- Harding is always a great candidate against massive enemies and buildings.
- If you did go with Davrin, then assign him to the Grey Wardens or Mourn Watch.
When you return to the town, finish the quest “Honor of the Fallen ” with a Blue quest Marker.
Note: Our goal is not to let any faction leaders die, if you picked the wrong teammates for protection and they died after failing to protect the faction leaders then you must reload the previous save.
Key Decisions: Chapter 14
The structure of the quest follows the method of Chapter 13. We must again choose the perfect companion for the positions but unlike the last one, here we just have to choose two characters for two different positions.
- Assing Taash to defend the Divine Manor
- Take Harding and Neve to the mission.
You will face the end boss, then you will have to choose the proper dialogue. Here you will need to choose
Dialogue | Respones |
“Please, Rook, I do not wish to fight against you.“ | 1. Trick Solas with the fake dagger 2. Let’s try this your way. 3. But I want to fight you. |
“Bested fairly by wits alone. I taught you well” | 1. I wish things were different. 2. You did this to yourself. 3. No Varric did. 4. No. You’re a traitor. |
Achievement Unlocked: Once you save everybody in the game, you will unlock The Ones That Last Trophy in Dragon Age: Veilguard.
Worst Ending To Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Every decision we make in the worst ending will be the direct opposite of how we handle the good ending. In the good ending, we focus on making sure everyone survives the game, here you need to grind your nails to ensure everyone dies at the end.
Key Decisions:
Here is a short list of decision-making you have to do to hit the worst ending to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
- Decision #1: Don’t complete any companion quests.
- Decision #2: Never achieve the Heroes of the Veilguard status for any companion member in the group.
- Decision #3: Instead of saving Minrathous, opt to choose Treviso instead.
- Decision #4: Make sure all the faction leaders perish. Focus on getting a 1-star rating on all factions.
- Decision #5: Assign the wrong roles for companions in chapters 13 (“The Last Gambit“) and 14 (“The Dread Wolf Rises“).
Since everyone is dead, you will not get any dialogue option here, only a bad ending.
