Retro Rewind includes a number of cheats you can activate, including the ability to give yourself more money. Another option you can edit through cheats is your experience, which is actually useless because you can’t access cheats until after you reach the maximum level. So, that makes me wonder if there’s going to be an update to add more levels.
Due to the location of the cheat room, you can only access it on Tuesday or Thursday after your store’s closing hours, because this is when the door in your storage area to the back alley is open. While the secret room is easy to find, it’s also easy to miss if you don’t know where to look.
First Requirement – Reach Level 20 to access the Secret Cheat Room

Before you can even think of getting to the cheat room, you have to reach Level 20. It takes a while to get there, since you earn maybe 300 experience a day, depending on how busy you were.
The best way to speed up the leveling process is increasing the number of customers who come to your store. To do that, you want to hire an employee for help, and then make sure your store is decorated with a reasonable stock of movies available to rent. This draws in more customers, which leads to more experience.
Finding the Secret Cheat Room
When you’re Level 20, you have to first wait until it’s Tuesday or Thursday at your closing hour. Instead of closing for the day, go to the storage room and find the door cracked open. If you buy from the Tape Dealer, this is a familiar sight.
Beyond the Tape Dealer’s table, there’s now an open door that never opens before you reach Level 20.

Inside, you find a little office that clearly belongs to the Tape Dealer with a computer on the desk. Interact with the computer, and you have the option to enable cheats.

The downside to enabling cheats is that your save file is marked as having them enabled, so you won’t be able to make progress towards achievements anymore. If cheats are enabled, then you can give yourself some, change movement settings such as jump height and speed, and change AI speeds in Retro Rewind.
