Outer Worlds 2 – Otto’s Saferoom Puzzle Solution

In Outer Worlds 2, after completing the main story progression in the first area, as your second area, you can either go to Dorado, or the ACS Free Market. In the Free Market area, while exploring, you will come across one of the more difficult puzzles in the game – Otto’s saferoom. We have put up the solution to this puzzle here.

You need to activate the right switches to unlock Otto’s Saferoom. The puzzle becomes simpler to solve if you have a N-Ray Scanner, since that lights up the switches that you must activate. The likely combinations of the puzzle solution are too many, so unless you know the right one, or have the N-Ray Scanner, it is not recommended to try and work this out on your own.

When you first glance at the puzzle, you will see Otto’s Note pinned to the wall, three lights in a column next to the note, followed by a set of switches across 3 rows, and then three lights. In the first set of three lights, the top one will be green, and the bottom two red. The objective is to turn all six (three in the beginning, and three in the end) green.

Activate the switches in the following order to make this happen (directions below are when facing the switch panel):

    • 1st row – middle switch.
    • 2nd row – second switch from the left.
    • 3rd row – first switch from the left. This will activate the bottom-most green light on your far left.
    • 2nd row – first switch on your right.
    • 2nd row – second switch on your right.
    • 1st row – first switch from the left. This will activate the top-most green light on your far left.
    • 3rd row – first switch on your right.
    • 3rd row – second switch on your right.
    • 3rd row – third switch on your right.
    • 2nd row – first switch on your left. This will activate the middle green light on your far left.

The door to Otto’s Saferoom should now be open. The benefit of doing this with the N-Ray Scanner is that you will see how the switches are connected from right to left, and hence selecting the next switch to be activated is pretty easy to read.

    Otto’s Saferoom Rewards

    • 428 Bit Cartridges
    • Advanced Decryption Key (used to upgrade V.A.L.E.R.I.E.)
    • Triple Barrel Shotgun
    • Music Box
    • Dehydrated Water
    • Soot-Smeared Journal

With this puzzle solved, you can now continue exploring the Free Market to meet other vendors and progress on getting information for Stallworth in The Outer Worlds 2. Do make it a point to visit Otto to get some good lore about the ACS Free Market.
