My Winter Car – How to Get and Use Firewood

My Summer Car, to which My Winter Car is the sequel, included firewood as a way for you to make money by selling it to people around the area. While you can still sell firewood in My Winter Car by loading up a trailer and going around town, you’ll likely want to use it to handle the winter temperatures.

Where to Get Firewood in My Winter Car

The primary places you’ll find firewood are at your parents’ house and at the cabin. There are stacks of wood on the side of the building, along with an ax leaning against them and a stump that you’ll use to chop the wood.

The map for MWC is the same as MSC, meaning the cabin is in the middle of the lake on a little island, and your parents’ house is on the peninsula across the lake from your apartment.

To cut firewood, grab the ax and then hit F to use it. Look at the log on the cutting log and right click to bring the ax down and cut it in half. Then, look at the pile of wood and move around until you see “Pick Log” appear on your screen. Left click, and a new log will be set up for you to chop.

From here, you can take the firewood inside the cabin or house to use, or you can keep chopping and load up a trailer to sell it.

    Using Firewood

If you’re going to use the firewood to lower your heating and cooking costs, then you need to carry the pieces to the fireplace or wood stove, depending on what you’re planning to do with it. With the wood in your hand, click to place it in the stove or fireplace. I crouch to reach the fireplace, since it seems too far away to place the wood in it without crouching.

When there’s firewood in the stove or fireplace, you’ll get an option to start a fire by clicking on the wood. Each piece of wood burns for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, with a maximum of four pieces lasting 10 minutes.

Even if you don’t plan on using or selling the firewood, you can reduce your stress by chopping logs. So, it’s worth knowing where to go to find firewood, as the stress meter can be annoyingly difficult to lower. While firewood is already useful, I’d love to have a way to use it to warm up the player apartment in My Winter Car, since being too cold stops you from sleeping and the radiator takes forever to warm your house.
