While Mortal Shell 2 has plenty of short-length NPC quests, the longer options offer plenty of rewards and opportunities if you’re willing to seek them out. In Mortal Shell 2, Vlas is a Gloom specialist who has been accosted by bandits at every turn.
Unlike Egon or the Grisha Pup, Vlas is one of the most difficult to follow of the early-game quests thanks to his proximity to some difficult areas in Mammon and the lack of clarity on where exactly he goes. If you’re willing to put in the work, you can make a pretty penny and add a new member to the Marrow Keep’s cast.
If the promise of some Coin and a new feline friend caught your attention, let me give you the step-by-step on how to help Vlas in Mortal Shell 2!
Finding Vlas in Early Mammon

To start Vlas’s questline, you’ll need to find him. Start at the first Mammon Beacon you get, following the path straight down the hill and past the horde of Soldiers. When you pass the Lightning-launching Crossbow Soldier, dive off the stone path to the left.
At the base of a broken wagon, you’ll find Vlas, wounded but alive. Interact with him, and he’ll ask you to find his cat amidst the wreckage. Walk directly across from Vlas to an empty cage with a wooden box leaning on it, revealing his small cat Mutton is missing.
Vlas will thank you for trying to help and send you on your way, handing over a Coin of Mammon. Reload at the Beacon and return to Vlas to see him off. He’ll mention that he’s returning to the bandits who attacked him, resigning himself to his fate.
Saving Vlas from the Bandits

Warp to the Gate of Mammon Beacon, ascending the wooden ramps to climb the Lonesome Spire. As you ascend, hug the left side and look for a massive wooden lift. You’ll need to pull a lever to bring it down, with coffin-based flesh monsters bearing down on you.
Ride up the lift, and you’ll arrive right behind a bandit camp at the center of the Spire. Within a wooden shack hidden behind a breakable wall. Behind this wall is the Unremarkable Key, the last thing we’ll need to help out Vlas. Circle the camp until you meet a Brigand selling various wares. Snag whatever you want now, because this shop will close permanently once you save Vlas and leave.

Interact with Vlas’s cage once you have the key repeatedly, and you’ll be able to convince him to make an attempt to flee later in the night. This is all he needs from you, so return to the early Mammon Beacon and return to Vlas’s original area.
Recruiting Vlas to the Marrow Keep

When you hop down to return to Vlas’s original position, you’ll find a letter thanking you for all your help. He intends to live freely with Mutton, but leaves no hint as to where he may be going.
In order to find Vlas and collect your final rewards, return to the Marrow Keep, where Vlas has found a space. Head towards Sester Genessa’s training area from the central Marrow Keep Beacon to find Vlas, more than happy to finally have a sanctuary.
He’ll hand over another Coin of Mammon and plant his flag at that spot in Marrow Keep. While he isn’t a shopkeeper or anything, you can pet his cat, Mutton, by interacting with it over the course of the game, so I’ll call that a win!
