Mewgenics – The Complete Boris Boss Guide

As you refine your gene pool in Mewgenics and grow your cat army in your own twisted image, there will be more than a few bosses on your travels that will try to take you down.
One such boss is Boris, a big seal-like creature that throws his weight around with careless abandon to make you submit.

It’s a tricky endeavour, and one that requires an approach that isn’t as up close and personal as you might like. However, with this guide, you’ll make it through.

    How To Prepare

Boris is one of the bosses that you can fight as the end boss fight within The Sewers. This is a boss where keeping your distance is key.

To prepare, I recommend that you try to heal and power up ranged attackers such as Mages, Hunters, and Thieves, as they will be able to deal damage without getting crushed by this blobby boss.

I would also recommend adding armor or health regen to weaker party members, as this boss can zap you of health fast. Having a Cleric on hand to revive is also a good move.

During my run, I was lucky enough to find an Item called Revolver (instantly kills enemies and deals 25 damage to bosses; 6 uses), and had 2 uses saved up for the boss fight. This made the fight a little easier for me, giving me range and heavy damage to attack with.

Three more items that helped me a lot in this fight are Ankh, Zukin, and Survivalist’s Gaiter, so look out for these.

If you don’t get as lucky or find something similar prior to the fight, that’s completely fine. Make sure you carry enough heals to make up for the extra rounds needed to beat the boss.

    ItemUse
AnkhWhile you’re downed, you have a 50% chance to revive with 33% HP at the end of each round
ZukinStart battle with +2 Backflip (backflip out of the way the next time it’s targeted
Survivalist’s Gaiter+40% Dodge chance while standing in tall grass. Start each battle with Stealth 1. Lose this stealth when you use your basic attack

Boris doesn’t have too many moves, but what they do have is more than enough to wipe out your team simply due to the heft of the boss. Here’s what they have in their locker:

Movement – That’s right, moving is an attack for Boris. They will deal 3 damage every time they walk into your units. It’s also worth noting that they will walk toward an attacker when hit.

Trample Dash – This is a dash attack that moves either vertically or horizontally across the entire battlefield. This will deal 5 damage on impact, along with any collision damage thereafter.

End of Round Effect – Not a Boris move, but something to be wary of. The pool of water will churn at the end of the round and push you anti-clockwise a few tiles.

    How To Beat Boris

To beat Boris, the key to success is space. You want to keep as far away from them as possible while also being in range to deal damage. Ranged nail attacks, magic spells, and status effects are great ways to do this. However, you do have to be aware of your positioning throughout.

Before anything, I would suggest using your most agile party member to go and kill the pidgeon on screen for an all stats boost that will make this fight somewhat easier.

When it comes to dealing damage, use the spiked rocks to your advantage. Hide behind them, and use knock-back attacks to lure Boris in and whack them off the rocks.

It’s also worth noting that Fighters are at a real disadvantage in this fight, as they need to be up close to land most attacks, which only invites the boss to step on you. Use these units sparingly, only if you have a critical chance or a backstab opportunity.

Use ranged attacks to lure the enemy away from melee users and healers with low movement stats.

Poison attacks can work very well in this battle to deal slow but steady passive damage. The Fire status effect won’t work due to the excess of water on the field.

If units go down, you need to get them out of the water because the end-of-round effect crashes them into the spiked rocks, killing your downed ally forever.

Additionally, if you can immobilize Boris, this can make the battle much easier.

If you can take these tips on board, you stand a relatively good chance. For more content on Mewgenics, check out our latest Mewgenics review.
