Radical Rat is one of those bosses in Mewgenics that will give you a hard time if not dealt with quickly. As of the time of writing, Radical Rat has been the most annoying boss I have come across, as it put an end to one of my early runs.
As an early-game boss from The Alley in Mewgenics, beating Radical Rat is tricky. If you are struggling with this ugly, grinning rat boss, this guide will walk you through the preparation and the strategy required to beat Radical Rat.
Radical Rat Moveset

Although Radical Rat has two moves, only one of those can deal damage to you. Here’s how they work:
Rat Bomb – The Rat Bomb acts like a spawn as it gets a turn of its own at the end of the round. On its turn, the bomb explodes, dealing 10 damage to all cats caught in the tiles highlighted by a cross pattern. The bomb can also explode when hit with fire.
At a time, Radical Rat can stack up to 2 Rat Bombs, one each turn. All active bombs will detonate at the end of the round, right after the boss uses its Turtle ability.

Turtle – This ability is used only once per round. On Radical Rat’s last turn of the round, it will use Turtle to hide under a bucket to avoid getting caught up in the explosion. This ability alone deals no damage to your party if you have already destroyed the bomb.
How To Prepare

Take your time to heal your cats and select the items you want to take into battle, since the preparation phase can make or break your run. If you are just starting or got your party killed on the previous run, it is okay to go for a new adventure with fewer (or none) effective items. However, if you do have some, remember to take them along because you won’t make any progress compared to your previous runs if you don’t.
Since there is no way to know which boss you are going to face next, as each level is procedurally generated, you don’t know which cats to focus more on or heal before the fight. In general, you can approach this fight with a party consisting of a Fighter, Hunter, Mage, and Tank. If you don’t have a Cleric on the party, I would advise you to carry enough healables and equip them to your cats.
If you have your Mage and Hunter on low health, that’s a disadvantage since the Radical Rat can toss a bomb and then immediately relocate on its turn. Thus, it is better to have your long-range Classes healed up, so you can deal with Radical Rat from a decent range.
How To Beat Radical Rat

It is easy to get caught up in the cross pattern with multiple cats, as the boss mostly aims to throw the ball on a tile that would catch at least two cats in its area of effect. To prevent that, you should place them in pairs to have an advantage in a fight against Radical Rat.
When it comes to attacking, use your long-range Classes to deal damage to Radical Rat and the melee attackers to destroy the Rat Bomb. A pro tip would be to keep one long-range and one melee cat in each pair.
Your primary goal during the fight must be to destroy the bomb as quickly as you can. Don’t rush to beat the enemy without dealing with the Rat Bomb, since it gets more difficult to deal damage to Radical Rat and take care of two active bombs at the same time.
If you do let the bombs stack up, though, you will be left with a dead party engulfed in fire in no time, while you stare blankly at the screen with the end boss fight theme going “Tasty legs and crispy thighs, on my mind!” in the background.
