Mewgenics – How to unlock Mystery Man

Despite investing hours into Mewgenics, several players find it difficult to unlock Mystery Man. However, unlocking the weird NPC, who names himself after your Steam Account ID, is a simple mechanic that most players overlook, as the game provides no prompt or clear requirement to access him.

Thus, if you still haven’t unlocked Mystery Man, this guide will outline the requirements you need to meet to trigger his appearance in Mewgenics.

Where To Find Mystery Man in Mewgenics

After completing your first run in Mewgenics, you will unlock a pipe that spawns outside your house. This pipe links to seven NPCs, and you can permanently send your cats to them, given their unique conditions are met.

Mystery Man is one of the NPCs that you can unlock very early in the game. You can only send dead cats to this NPC, and to return the favor, he’ll bring back certain Items you lose on runs and add other rare Items to his shop. Once you have access to the sewer pipe outside your house, go on a run and deliberately get your crew killed.

Now, getting an entire crew killed might not be very efficient, thus I would advise you to let this happen naturally. As you progress through Mewgenics, you will face multiple bosses who could potentially wipe out your entire crew. So, instead of wasting an entire party with cats who might play a key role in the gene pool and breeding of your next generation of furry adventurers, let it happen when it should.

If your entire team of cats is defeated and your run comes to an end, Mystery Man shows up on screen to gleefully declare the fall of your crew. Once you have returned from your adventure after getting your crew wiped out, click on the Map icon. You will now have Mystery Man unlocked with an “!” on it. Interact with it and get through the cutscene to finish unlocking him completely.

Finding dead cats should not be a problem either, as your house cats will often fight with each other, sometimes resulting in an injury or even death. To prevent your cats from fighting every night, spot the pair who dislike each other and keep them in separate rooms. However, if you want to send them to Mystery Man, you know exactly what to do.
