You need a functional Bow and some Arrows to shoot down a deer. You can one-shot a deer with a single arrow with decent aim. Both Bow and Arrow are locked behind the crafting system, you need to possess a specific item in the game to unlock the weapon. If you don’t have the bow unlocked in the game, here’s how to do it.

Crafting Coarse Thread and Spinning Wheel

    Crafting RuneScape Dragonwilds (1)

The crafting recipe for the Bow and Arrow is locked behind the item”Coarse Thread“. The very first thing you should do is to craft Coarse Thread at the Spinning Wheel, then you will move on to the next phase of crafting a bow.

You will need to get Flax flowers to craft Coarse Thread. Follow the guide to get all the items needed to craft the Bow and Arrow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

    • Get Flax flowers, they are blue colored plants scattered throughout the map, you will find most of them west of Bramblemead Valley. Grab a handful of them. Throughout the crafting process, you will need a lot of them.
    • Obtaining Flax will unlock the recipe to Spinning Wheel, which requires Ash Log x12/ Flax x4/ and Stone x2.
    • After building the Spinning Wheel, interact with the machine, drag the Flax from your inventory to the “+” icon on the menu, and you will get Coarse Thread.

Crafting your first Coarse Thread will unlock the Ash Shortbow and Fang Arrow on the Crafting Table. Make sure to craft 3 Coarse Threads for the Bow crafting.

    Crafting Bow and Arrow:

Now you just have to craft a Bow and Arrow to hunt for the deer in the wild. Head over to the Crafting Table to craft both items.

    • To craft a Bow, you will need Coarse Thread x3 and Ash Logs x12.
    • For crafting Arrow, you must have Ash Log x1, Small Animal Fang x1, and Feather x1.

    Ingredient Hunting:

Here is the detailed location for hunting down Feather, Ash Logs, and Small Animal Fangs required for the Arrow crafting.

    • Feathers can be obtained by killing chickens found in Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley.
    • Small Animal fangs: Killing rats will drop these materials, you can find these rats at Windmill, found north of Temple Woods.
    • Ash Logs: They can be obtained by chopping down Ash Trees found in the area.

Equip your Bow and aim at the deer, and shoot it. You will one-shot the deer anyway, having a couple of arrows in the bag will be enough to bring down the deer population of the area.

RuneScape Dragonwilds is a game that emphasizes collecting resources and crafting more powerful items. Check our guide here on how to collect Blightwood and craft the Iron Pickaxe.
