How To Go Underwater In Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an enticing tale of hunting down the Paintress and stopping death in its tracks. As part of Expedition 33, you have to explore the vast terrains and go past obstacles to reach your destination. While traveling around the world, you might spot pools of water that may give a hint that you can explore them. But there is no indication on how you can dive underwater, so this guide will show you how to do that in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

The only way to unlock the ability to breath underwater happens after unlocking Esquie and reaching Relationship Level 5 with them. Esquie is a mythical creature who joins your party a bit later in the game, and can be recruited while you are out exploring the overworld. Once you have this creature at your camp, you can interact with it frequently and increase your relationship level with it.

Eventually, once you get to level 5, Esquie will speak about their favorite rock that has been missing for some time. You get the hint to seek out Francois and pick up the rock, called Urrie, from him. You would have already encountered Francois while trying to recruit Esquie for the first time, as he had stolen a different rock from the creature earlier. Head back to his lair and offer a trade-off, but Francois will refuse the offer, thus starting a battle.

Since this is a turn-based battle, you have to rake up your combos so you get the upper hand at beating Francois. The fight will seem pretty easy this time around after learning his moves the first time. Eventually, you can defeat him and claim Urrie, while he accepts the initial rock that you had offered previously. Head back to Esquie and hand over Urrie, and this will increase your relationship with them to level 6. Also, you will unlock the Underwater Diving ability, and this can be used on any water body that has a blue vortex.
