Cult of the Lamb has its fair share of weirdness and quirky characters, but so far, Sozo takes the quest. It’s a hidden NPC that you can come across on your journey, and upon unlocking him, you’ll get a secret quest line. Completing the questline unlocks the Sozo’s Follower form. But even if you don’t care about the rewards, the quest is pretty fun to complete.

How To Start Sozo’s Quest In Cult of the Lamb
To start Sozo’s questline, you’ll first need to find this follower. But unlike other followers in the game, you won’t be rescuing Sozo. Instead, you’ll have to go to Spore Grotto. Go straight through to the next part of the region down the middle, and you’ll see someone with a yellow backpack lying dead in front of you. This is Sozo.
Interact with the character, and you’ll acquire the Seeds of Sozo item. Now run back to your Enclave and plant the seed in your base. Place a Scarecrow nearby so that the birds can’t steal the seed. Use Fertilizer on it and go on a run.
When you come back to it, you’ll get the option to Pick the Mysterious Mushroom. Interact with it, and Sozo will appear. Exhaust the dialogue, and the Sozo questline has finally begun.
Completing Sozo’s Quest In Cult Of The Lamb
Sozo’s questline is pretty simple. After exhausting his dialogue, you’ll notice that he’s asking for Mushrooms. If you have some already, you can offer it to the character, and he will turn into a Follower for your base.
If you don’t have mushrooms in your inventory, you can farm them in the Anura region to stock them up.
Completing Sozo’s Quest In Cult Of The Lamb DLC
If you bought the Sins of the Flesh DLC for Cult of the Lamb, you’ll get another hidden quest for Sozo. Talk to the character in your base, and he will task you with rescuing a Mushroom Follower in the Anura region.
Make sure you go to the nodes with Followers on a Crusade to the region, and you’ll come across a Follower with a Mushroom hat. Rescue him and send him to your Enclave. Return to your base, convert the new follower, and talk to Sozo again. This will upgrade the character to level 2.
Now wait a while, and soon, Sozo will start eating your other Followers. At this point, talk to him, and he will ask you to rescue more followers. Decline his request and Imprison him.
Come back to the character later and choose Re-educate after interacting with it. A short cutscene will play, and he will remove his Mushroom Cap. His name will also change to Dr Sozonius. Exhaust his dialogue, and the quest will finish, rewarding you with a new Mushroom Follower Form.
