Finding somewhere to lay your weary head should be a priority for you when you arrive at the Old Camp in the Gothic 1 Remake. You’ll notice that every bed and hut already has an owner, and sleeping in an owned bed is likely to get you beaten up if you’re caught.
Also, the game’s lack of hand-holding makes getting your own bed confusing, and it’s not immediately obvious when exploring the camp. The good news is that there’s a very easy way to get a bed, a hut, and your own storage chest in Gothic 1 Remake, just follow the steps below.
How to get a bed in the Old Camp

Before venturing to any of the other camps, secure your bed at the Old Camp first. Even if you’re not going to live here, it pays to have a safe base here that you can use as a resting spot.
Once you arrive, complete all the dialogue options with Diego, and he’ll advise you to help his fellow Shadows so that you can join their ranks and walk on easy street. He’ll also encourage you to explore the outer rim and get to know the various movers and shakers at camp.

It won’t take long until you start hearing about an NPC named Guy who can make your life easier. Guy can be found near the market area, and luckily for you, he’s a rather helpful and friendly chap.
You can ask Guy about getting your own hut, and he’ll tell you that one is now available and that you’re welcome to take it. He’ll even give you directions to it, the hut is located opposite the arena and is covered by a red awning.
Finding your hut

Follow Guy’s advice and head to the arena area with a balcony looking over it. Your hut will be opposite this and will feature a large red awning, just like Guy said.
You’ll know it’s yours as you’ll be able to sleep in the bed without it being highlighted in a red symbol. You’ll also be able to use the storage chest without triggering a lockpicking scene. There’ll be a recipe inside for you to keep when you do.
This will now be your hut in the Old Camp, but you’ll be able to obtain more beds at the other camps. Also, if you’ve befriended (or killed) Mud by this point, you’ll be able to sleep in his hut too. This is located near the campfire where NPCs play music and sing together at night. So technically, you get two beds in the Old Camp, if you want them.
