Many chests in Everwind require a special key to open. The very first treasure box in the tutorial area will have a skeleton lying next to it. Looting from its body, you will find a key that you can use to unlock the chest. But this won’t be the same for every other chest or cupboard you will come across in your journey. In some cases, you might have to use brute force or a sneaky lockpick to open them.
Getting a key should be your first priority when you are exploring any abandoned house or any area with a lot of locked cupboards or drawers. Another object that can help you crack open the locked objects is lockpicks.
Just like keys, lockpicks are very rare. Here, I’m going to tell you the ways to get lockpicks in Everwind.
Where to Find Lockpicks in Everwind

The only way to find lockpicks in Everwind is by exploring the game. I have found it lying around on many tables and inside drawers. But I must say, the chances of finding them are rare. You will never find a sufficient amount. Many times I have smashed locked cupboards with my axe, only to get loot instead of keys or lockpicks.
Lockpick: Allows opening locked containers without a key, with a chance of success.
Even if you possess a lockpick, the chances of failing at it are very high. The lockpicking system happens automatically; you will not have to deal with any minigame to ace it. If you have played Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, you probably have an idea how it works. Basically, you equip the lockpick via shortcut bar down at the bottom, press the hotkey (1 to 9), and lastly, press E to use it on the object with a lock.
Crafting Lockpicking Potion
There were only a handful of times I opened a locked chest with any success. You can raise the chances of lockpicking by creating a Lockpicking Potion. You will need to obtain:
- Bell Flower
- Chanterelle
- Cone
Gather all three items to craft the potion to be more effective at lockpicking. If you run out of lockpicks, try to look for them in any place with tables or wooden chests, or better yet, use a key to open the chest.
The game has a very limited supply of keys and lockpicks in the world. It tells you to keep a good amount of lockpicks in your possession before heading out in the world. So, don’t waste it. I will advise you to create the Lockpicking Potion and drink it before using the lockpicks in your possession.
Currently, there are no recipes available that allow crafting lockpicks; you must rely on exploration to find them. In the future, we might see the lockpicking skill under the Engineer tree or give the player the ability to craft them, since there are only a handful of lockpicks and millions of locked chests in the game.
