Crimson Desert – How To Get The Hwando Katana

Crimson Desert’s worlds are full of little secrets to uncover, and the Hwando is just one of the many weapons you can find lying around. Gathering it is no easy task though, and you will have to traverse through a few hoops before you get your hands on the katana.

If you’re curious on how to get the weapon, here’s everything you need to know, and a bit more.

    Getting A Mask

Grabbing the katana involves stealing a specific key first, which is considered an act of crime. To commit a crime in Crimson Desert, you’ll need a Mask.

You can always loot a Mask from a nearby bandit camp, but that might bring with it a risk of death. A safer choice is to head to the Back Alley Shop vendor below Rocca’s Hill in the Pywel.

Talk to the shopkeeper, and purchase a Mask off him for 10 Copper coins. Make sure you have enough inventory space before purchasing it. You’ll also want to equip the mask from your Inventory before you move on as well.

Finally, make your way north to the Lioncrest Manor, as indicated on your in-game map. There should be a bunch of houses and a few Nobles around here. Do not cause a commotion, and simply walk up to the large building.

Ignoring the NPC chatter, scale up the walls until you reach a wooden, closed window. Stop right ahead of it, and position the camera toward it. Hold down the X button to open the window, followed by A to climb inside.

Once inside, make your way forward to find a small candlelit table beside a chest and a bust. Walk up to the table (with the mask equipped) and hit the A button to steal the item.

Doing so will lower your Contribution and set off an alarm. Thankfully, there’s isn’t much to do here but wait it out. Once the alarm disappears, head back down from where you came.

Climbing To The Nearby Building To Get The Katana

To actually grab the Hwando, you’ll have to make your way to the nearby building, on your right. Once you’re past the guards, climb up and make your way to another closed, wooden window. Interact with it to open it and climb over inside. Once you enter, make your way to the immediate right to find a locked door.

If you have the key in your inventory, this door should be automatically unlocked. Walk past to find a glowing chest inside. Hold LB to focus on the box and interact with it to get the Hwando and a Refined Palmar Pill.

With the katana now in your inventory, head out and slay some foes.
