Code Vein 2 – How to Reach Limestone Cave Retainer Location

During the main story of Code Vein 2, players will be tasked to defeat two Retainers, one at the Abandoned Land and another in Limestone Cave. Finding the Retainer at the Abandoned Land is straightforward, as the map doesn’t really cause any issues in getting there. However, Limestone Cave is a different story.

Due to the map’s verticality in Code Vein 2, it can be tricky to locate Limestone Cave. While the game provides a quest marker of the Retainer’s location, it doesn’t tell you how to find the entrance to the cave, leaving players wandering for hours in search for it.

If you’re having trouble finding the cave or the Retainer itself within the cave, this guide is for you. Here’s how to find the Retainer in Limestone Cave in Code Vein 2.

The first step in finding the Retainer in Limestone Cave is to actually find the cave itself. Most players, myself included, will head east on the map toward the quest marker in an attempt to find the cave. However, this is not correct.

To find Limestone Cave, fast travel to Forward Base Two in Corroded Scar, a location that players encounter naturally through the main quest “Slaying the Hero Lyle.”

Once you reach Forward Base Two, make your way to the South Bridge Elevator and ride it down to the ground level. You can find the location of this specific elevator in the image below.

Immediately after getting off the elevator, take a right to find a large opening in the mountainside. Going through this opening will lead you to Crystal Grotto and making it through Crystal Grotto will lead you directly into Limestone Cave. They are connected, so just follow the main path.

Your main objective in Limestone Cave is to defeat the Retainer, found within the Limestone Cave system. Luckily, navigating Limestone Cave is fairly simple, since it’s basically a straight shot, with not many interconnecting paths that will have you getting lost.

As you explore Limestone Cave, make sure to keep an eye out for the Map Jammer. Destroying it will reveal the map, making it easier to gain a sense of direction. However, the exact location of the Retainer in Limestone Cave is attached above.

The Retainer’s actual name in Limestone Cave is the Ravenous Predator. The good news is that this boss is one of the easier ones in Code Vein 2, so you shouldn’t have much trouble.

The Ravenous Predator is a simple boss. There are only a handful of attacks to look out for, and the windows to attack are huge, unlike other bosses in the game.

While fighting the Ravenous Predator, look out for its charged attacks and its projectile attack, where it launches venom toward you. When it charges toward you, it will rush through the arena back and forth twice, so be prepared to dodge both.

As for the venom projectile attack, all you need to do is run or dodge to the side to avoid it. It’s that simple. However, make sure to use consumables to counter ailments if you end up getting hit by them. Also, make sure to bring a strong partner with you to the fight.

After defeating the Ravenous Predator, you can either continue exploring Limestone Cave or fast travel back to Forward Base Two to speak to Craig and continue the mission. Remember, you also have to defeat the Retainer in the Abandoned Land, so if you haven’t done that yet, go ahead and complete it.
