If you’re going to journey across the corrupted lands in Beast of Reincarnation, you’re going to need to know the best skills to target early for Emma and Koo. Both of these characters have a separate skill tree that has a bunch of different abilities for you to unlock, and doing so makes the early hours of the game much easier.
However, it can be quite a challenge to understand how exactly the skill tree works and which skills are the best for Ema and Koo, especially if you’re a beginner. But luckily, you don’t need to spend hours figuring out the best build, as the skills I’ve listed below will help you dominate before you settle into a build. So, let’s take a dive into the best skills you should prioritize early in Beast of Reincarnation.
Understanding the Skill Tree in Beast of Reincarnation

Before I tell you about the best skills to target early for Emma and Koo, it’s important to understand how the skill tree works. The basic idea is that both characters have three core branches, and each branch has different skills for you to unlock. What’s unique is that each of these core branches is tied to three attributes: Strength, Vitality, and Fluorescence.
So, in order to access new branches and the skill nodes within them, you’re going to need to invest Attribute points into each. You can obtain Attribute points by filling the experience bar by defeating enemies. But you might be wondering, which attribute unlocks which branch of the skill tree? Well, I’ve put together a table below to make that easy to understand.
| Attributes | Emma Core Skill | Koo Core Skill |
| Florescence | Tracking Shot | Incantation |
| Vitality | Hair | Guard |
| Strength | Entanglement Overdrive | Pounce |
However, investing in Attributes is only one part of the equation, as they simply unlock access to the branch and its skill nodes. After you’ve managed to do that, you also need to gain Skill Points to actually unlock the individual skills within the branch. You can easily earn these by defeating enemies.
If you’re unhappy with your Attribute or Skill Point investments, you can always reset them and start fresh.
Best skills to target early for Emma

Now that you’re aware of the basics of the skill tree, let’s take a look at the three best skills for Emma during the early stages of the game. I’ve found these to be the most effective for progressing through the story:
1. Helm Splitter
Branch: Hair
The Helm Splitter is undoubtedly one of the best skills to have. What it does is let you drive your sword into the ground while you’re high in the air, dealing damage in a specific area. This is a great skill to have in your arsenal, especially when you’re dealing with hordes of enemies at any given moment. All you need to do to activate it is jump and hold the attack button. It also works quite well against various bosses in the game.
2. Roll
Branch: Tracking Shot
My next favorite skill, especially during the early stages of the game, is Roll. It’s as simple as it sounds, as it lets you roll away from your enemies. Activating it requires you to press the dodge button on your keyboard or controller twice in a row. The main perk of this skill is the fact that you can escape from any high-pressure scenario and change your position when you’re under a lot of threat. It’s basically an easy escape card.
3. Recovery Effect Boost
Branch: Entanglement Overdrive
The final pick for Emma is Recovery Effect Boost. What it does is increase the amount of healing you receive from items and skills that can output recovery. It’s the perfect way to maintain your health recovery. You will be able to sustain yourself on the battlefield for much longer. If you decide to enhance this skill, you can also increase the percentage of health you recover when you use it.
Best Skills to Target Early For Koo

Choosing the right skills for Koo is just as important as picking the right ones for Emma. After hours of experimenting, these are the three skills in particular that I’ve found work the best for our loyal dog companion.
1. Taunt
Branch: Pounce
At certain points in Beast of Reincarnation, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a bunch of enemies, and some of them have attacks that can prove to be lethal. That’s where Koo’s Taunt can be a lifesaver. The skill lets your companion howl, drawing the attention of all enemies nearby. This gives you a chance to focus on and eliminate any dangerous foe that can prove to be a real threat.
2. Mod: Status Effect
Branch: Incantation
For me, choosing Mod: Status Effect Amp for Koo was an outright game-changer. What it does is make status effects build up twice as fast on all nearby enemies. What does that mean? Well, any attack that applies specific effects such as Poison will trigger much faster. When you add that with the rest of your kit, you will be able to constantly pressure enemies with status effects and take them down much more quickly.
3. Detect Hidden Item
Branch: Pounce
As much as skills can help you deal more damage and stay alive, they can also make exploration much more rewarding. One of the best examples of this is Detect Hidden Item for Koo. Once it’s equipped, it allows him to find hidden items scattered throughout the world. This means you’ll have a much easier time getting your hands on valuable resources like Generator devices, Ancient Books, Amber, and other crafting materials.
Now that you know about the best skills to target early for Emma and Koo in Beast of Reincarnation, it’s time to head out there and crush your enemies. Also, check out how you can upgrade the Cleanse Walker to make it a powerhouse.
