How to Complete the Playground (Child’s Play) in Low-Budget Repairs

I’ve seen quite a few players complain in Low-Budget Repairs discussion boards that they’re having trouble completing the Child’s Play mission, which asks you to repair and clean the playground. I understand the exact issue that players are having with getting the mission to be marked as complete because I had the issue too.

You start by cleaning up the area and then repairing the equipment. However, the issue that we all seem to be having is with the painting tasks. At the end of the mission, you’re supposed to paint some benches and a playset, but players are doing this and not having the tasks marked as complete. Well, I can fix that for you.

The majority of this mission is cleaning and repairing. Start by taking the broom by the tree or pulling out a garbage bag. Go around the area and pick up the trash, tossing it into the bins when you fill a bag to get rid of it.

When you’re done cleaning, turn your focus to the equipment with exclamation points. Here, you find pieces that you need to grab and put in place by following the green highlighted locations that show you where the piece you’re holding should be placed. Move your reticle over the highlight and you have the option to use “E” to mount the item you’re holding, making it easy to build the equipment.

The only piece of equipment that has an extra step after putting its components in place is the sandbox. For this, you need to grab the bags of sand from the bench to the left and pour all of them into the box for the task to be marked as complete.

After that, you should only have the painting tasks left. There’s a man on the sidewalk by the kids who has a few buckets of paint for you to start with.

This is where players are having issues, and I had the same issue. Your tasks are to paint the two benches you assembled with Fresh Basil paint and the climbing playset with the circles with Strawberry Madness paint.

The playset is easier and you’re given two buckets of Strawberry Madness paint. Coat the front and back of the playset and the task should be marked complete. I wanted it to look nice and ended up having to go to the shop to purchase more buckets of both paint colors, which aren’t that expensive, so it’s not a big deal to grab extra.

The benches, however, don’t tell you that painting the seat isn’t enough. At a glance, it looks done once you paint the top. Like many others, I did this and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t marked as being complete. It turns out you need to paint the sides of the benches and the little cylinders that hold them up so it looks like the image below.

When you do that, the job should be complete. From there, you just have to talk to the children on the sidewalk to collect your pay and add a collectible to your cabinet in Low-Budget Repairs.
