A Final Fantasy game within my Final Fantasy game? It’s more likely than you think.
We’ve had many in-universe crossovers of the beloved Square Enix series, whether they were in Final Fantasy spin-offs like World of Final Fantasy or Dissidia, or popping up in something different altogether like a Mario basketball game, Mario Hoops 3-on-3.
The latest collab is coming to Final Fantasy XIV, which is one of the biggest FF entries to date. With all the commotion regarding Final Fantasy VII Revelation coming to us soon, it only makes sense for these two Final Fantasy giants to collide. In 2027, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will have a dedicated Raid in the MMORPG, including new outfits for your character and a Gold Saucer mini-game!
Until the next FF clash, the next expansion is set to be called Evercold, which is going to launch in January 2027 with another crossover raid, this time with Neon Genesis Evangelion. The key art showing an Eva has already been released, boosting hype among players and fans of both franchises. In the past, there have been many collabs and interesting ones too, but few expected to have such strong entries in the collab category one after another.
What We Know About Final Fantasy XIV: Beyond the Lifestream
While there haven’t been many hints or previews of the Beyond the Lifestream Raid past glimpses at the upcoming content, the event was announced at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival Berlin, and the date of release is Spring 2027.
The raid event is said to involve dungeons which will be shaped and based on the ones in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. It is being developed with the team behind Final Fantasy VII Revelation, including Naoki Hamaguchi and Tetsuya Nomura.

The sneak peeks were shown as rewards after the raid, which were outfits based on beloved Barret and Tifa, including Barret’s famous gun-arm attachment. Sadly, it is only cosmetic, but it still works for aura-farming purposes. While Tifa’s outfit is bound to stir up lots of emotions, as her iconic sporty outfit has been cosplayed and paid homage to by numerous fans.
The most exciting drop is surely that Sephiroth is heavily hinted to be the Raid Boss, as Yoshida played “One Winged Angel” during the announcement of the raid. As with any raid event, it won’t just have one boss, so we can only speculate who we will get as a lucky treat, whether it’ll be Rufus Shinra and the Turks or if we will still get the planet’s Weapons even if they have shown up in FFXIV before in different forms.
The Gold Saucer Event will be changed to reflect the version in Final Fantasy Rebirth with a mini-game called Keyboard Bawler, which will be a typing challenge for up to four players.
The exact date of release of the raid is yet to be announced, but it is possible that it will be before the Trilogy’s closing, as Square will surely use both to hype it up. We still don’t know the exact release date for Revelation, as only Spring 2027 was shown in the announcement.
It was only a matter of time before FFXIV was going to collab with the most famous Final Fantasy, and now it’s so close that we can taste the mako.
