Limbus Company – Is Fourth Match Flame Rodion Uptie 5 Worth It?

Earlier in Season 7, Limbus Company introduced Threadspinning 5, allowing you to Uptie 5 certain EGOs. These Uptie 5s so far have focused on weak Season 1 EGOs, and our most recent finsihes out the Fourth Match Flame line with Rodion.

While most EGOs don’t fully require Upties, these EGOs benefit greatly from them, as expensive as they are. We’re here to answer the only question left, is Fourth Match Flame Rodion Uptie 5 Worth It?

    How Does Threadspinning 5 Work?

Threadspinning, the technical name for Uptieing EGOs, slowly empowers them just like ID Upties. You’ll need to use Thread and eventually EGO Shards from the character the EGO is for. Uptie 5 adds a new layer of cost: Spinchains.

Spinchains are used only for Threadspinning 5 on EGOs and can be converted in a couple of ways. The most efficient method is through EGO Shard for the matching Sinner, in this case Rodion. These EGO Shards will exchange 1:1 for Spinchains. Using Thread or any other Sinner’s EGO Shards will convert at a rate of 2:1.

Each tier of EGO costs a different amount of Spinchains to reach Uptie 5, as seen below.

Once you’ve got an Uptie 5 eligible EGO to Uptie 4, you can convert for Spinchains and finalize the Threadspin.

Now, let’s take a look at the topic for today, Fourth Match Flame Rodion. One of the disappointing Fourth Match Flame EGOs from the start of Limbus, Rodion’s has always been among the best.

    Uptie 4 Fourth Match Flame

Originally, a full Uptie 4 Fourth Match Flame was an odd to clash with negative coin Wrath Slash Skill that costs 3 Wrath, 2 Pride, and 1 Envy EGO Resource. With a Base Power of 38 and Coin Power of -18, “Fourth Match Flame” wants to be used while at lower sanity, not too difficult thanks to its 20 Sanity cost. Despite this, trying to use it when a fight is going well could be difficult.

If the attack lands, Rodion deals decent damage, inflicts 6 Burn, and, most importantly, inflicts 3 Wrath Fragility next turn. This means that, as long as the coin connects, the enemy will be taking an extra 30% damage from all Wrath skills, Burn’s primary Sin.

For its passive, “Spark of Flame,” Rodion will heal HP based on the Wrath Resonance whenever she kills a burning enemy. Fourth Match Flame provides tons of extra damage in the exact teams it wants to be run in, and that’s before Uptie 5. Let’s see what forking over the Spinchains does.

When raised to Uptie 5, Fourth Match Flame becomes a single negative Unbreakable coin Wrath Slash Skill with Base Power 38 and Coin Power -13. Now, the Skill gains +5% damage for the highest Sin Resonance in the chain, with a max of 30%. When the attack ends, Rodion gains 1 Wrath Power Up and 1 Wrath Damage Up next turn.

On hit without cracking, the Skill inflicts 6 Burn. Whether it cracked or not, the coin still afflicts its 3 Wrath Fragility next turn. Once the Skill is Uptie 5, its Corrosion gains new effects.

When Corroded, Fourth Match Flame gains bonus Attack Weight, the same scaling damage boost, and loses Base Power if Rodion loses the Clash. When the attack ends, she instead gains 2 Wrath Power Up and 1 Wrath Damage Up on the next turn. The coin inflicts both the Burn and Wrath Fragility whether it cracked or not.

As if the extra personal damage and Clash Power weren’t enough, Fourth Match Flame gains a new line to its passive. Once activated at combat start, if the team has Wrath Absolute Resonance, Rodion inflicts 1 Wrath Fragility on the main target of her Skill on a successful Clash.

This single line meants that, for the rest of the fight, as long as you’re sticking to the Sin you should, Rodion is opening the boss up for 10% more damage from all allies, constantly. In a proper Burn team, every heavy hitter skill is Wrath, allowing the team to eek out even more pain.

    The Verdict

Fourth Match Flame Rodion is an easy Uptie 5 if you’ve got it, and even if you don’t consider sharding it! Rodion is an absolute mainstay on Burn and Tremor Scorch teams, and her access to other powerful EGOs usable in burn, like Indicant’s Trial and Sunset Wayfarer, means she isn’t going anywhere.

Fourth Match Flame’s Uptie 5 just adds a third fantastic slot in for her loadout, enabling massive amounts of damage as long as you’re willing to prepare. Have her drop the EGO the turn before you let loose with the Dawn Office‘s Skill 3-2s, and you’ll be laughing all the way to the end of the Railway.
