Palworld is a game split in two, with equal importance given to exploration and base-building. As you explore the world and encounter Pals, you’ll find each is built for a different role. Be it combat, as a mount, or a strong worker, each is useful for some purpose or other.
Today, we’ll be going over the best base pals you can find in Palworld, from early to late game. Let’s start from the top with some you’ll encounter right out of the Hill of Beginnings, and move all the way through major progression.
Pupperai

Best For – Early game Transporting, Lumbering, and Gathering. Amasses resources for later construction.
Location – The area directly surrounding the Grassy Behemoth Hills, coordinates 171, -475
Found right outside the Hill of Beginnings, Pupperai are a new Pal to 1.0 that offer both a solid in-party passive and great work suitabilities for starting early bases. Packs of Pupperai can be found wandering between the Hill of Beginnings and Grassy Behemoth Hills fast travel points.
Pupperai has early levels in Lumbering, Gathering, AND Transporting, allowing him to start you off wood gathering, move the boons, and gather anything else worth gathering around the base. While in the party, his Best Boy passive skill grants the player a 10% melee damage boost.
Between the solid early stats and a decent passive for early content, Pupperai is a one of the best base Pals you can get in the early game.
Penking

Best for – Early to midgame generalist work. Cover half the work list all on his own.
Location – Throughout level 15~25 cold biomes, guaranteed field boss at coordinates 114, -352.
Parked right beside one of our best base spots, you can find Penking, a Boss Pal with some seriously impressive work types. Marked by the Sealed Realm of Frozen Wings fast travel point, Penking is an easy-to-farm Pal with tons of midgame power.
With a whopping 5 work types, Penking can handle most of what you need as you progress your base into a really effective factory. He can Mine, Transport, Water, Cool, and even supply some Handiwork in a pinch.
While he isn’t the best at anything, he’s a great all-rounder that your base should be jumping with as you progress. Snag your first at level 15, and you’ll be starting strong.
Wixen

Best For – Mid~late game Handiwork and Kindling
Location – Found north of the Altar of the Wincaller fast travel point during the day (coordinates 348, -70)
Wixen is another strong midgame Pal who can linger into the lategame. Wixen is a Fire Pal with a strong partner skill and all too welcome work types.
With Kindling, Transport and Handiwork, Wixen is a great crafter once you start breaking down Ore into Ingots. She can melt it down, move it to a bench, and be tasked with building the appropriate item all by herself.
Once you have a few, they act as a solid baseline workforce to keep production flowing and assembly lines provided for.
Blazamut

Best For – Endgame Kindling and Mining
Location – Located in the Blazing Mineshaft, coordinates -436, -529
Blazamut is a phenomenal Miner/Kindler and a solid grounded mount. With great damage, great solid fire typing, and massive out-of-the-box Work Types Blazamut is a great mid-end game Pal.
Even one can handle mining endgame ore deposits and their refinement, allowing you to focus on gathering Handicraft Pals or on getting your own Work Speed high enough to finish what the Blazamuts get you.
Jormuntide

Best For – Endgame Watering
Location – World boss spawn at 350, -85
Jormuntide is a colossal water Pal that can only be encountered as a boss fight. He’s absolutely stellar as a Waterer, one of the best in the game. This may sound a bit limited, but Watering is important for all milling/crusher work, as well as the watering stage of farming.
With the incredible use of also being a very fast mount over water, Jormuntide can help with exploration, some annoying work, and is a great fighter whenever Water element is needed. Keep him around and he’ll make a great base defender against raids, while covering plenty of work.
Anubis

Best For – Endgame Handiwork and Transporting
Location – Found as a field boss at coordinates -130, -96.
One of the best Handicraft Pals in the game, Anubis is a stellar late-game pet found as a boss encounter in the desert biome to the northeast of the Sealed Realm of Myriad Flames fast travel.
Once you’ve obtained it, you’ve got a Pal that can heavily expedite the process of putting together any gear. Anubis is also great in a fight, especially as Raids become more common in the endgame.
Anubis is also decent at Transport, so they can move any necessary pieces around a base to make your production as efficient as possible.
Braloha

Best for – Endgame Planting and Gathering, major player in Farming.
Location – You’ll find Braloha all across the world, most easily by the Sea Breeze Archipelago Tower at coordinates (-169, -664).
Braloha is an absolutely stellar late-game Pal for your base, covering both Planting and Gathering while speeding up all breeding in the base where it’s deployed. Covering both Planting and Gathering lets it almost single-handedly handle agriculture.
Pair it with a pal that can handle watering, and you’ve got a great farm setup right around the corner. The breeding speed boost lets you breed the perfect Pals even faster, opening the door for the best party you can make.
